I'm starting to think of trying my .223 out to 500 yards and maybe more this Spring. Up until this year I haven't tried longer ranges but after doing a bit of shooting at 350 yards with a different rifle I think I want to reload the .223 with some bullets I have sitting here and try the longer distances. I have the 69gr Nosler Custom Competition BTHP, some 69gr SMK and some 68gr Hornady HPBT Match bullets. I normally use Benchmark in my .223 as I've had excellent results with it in every bolt gun I've had in this cal. Does anyone have any recipes they would like to share? The rifle is a Savage Model 10 Predator Hunter with a 1-9 twist and an Accustock. I'll probably get it bedded and the bolt timed and I need some new glass for it. I like the one Sightron that I do have so I'll probably get another when I get the funds together.

Pretty sure Maynard meant 26gr not 36gr.
Although if you manage to get 36gr into a case, let me know how.
223 & 69gr bullets
Varget will work good like other members mentioned I shot RL15 with 69 gr and 75gr Bergers in my 1/9 twist rem XCR.got accuracy with more speed.
The 75 are much better at 900m than the 69gr. but they don,t run with the 90gr with a 1/7 twist around 2750 to 2825 fps you will not take a back seat to any .308win
69gr 5 shots 300 yards would have been a nice group except the last one, the inner ring is 1"

Ha, yup should be 24-26gr. I don't think you could get 36 gr in there even with a 6 ft drop tube

I'm getting great results at 200 with CCI BR4 primers and 23.4 grains of Benchmark behind a 69gr SMK. Going to try it at 300 and 400 next week when it warms up and hopefully the groups (and I) will still hold out that far.
I was getting the itch to, just spent a week at my house in the Phoenix area, then to the SHOT Show. Got back to Edmonton last night and froze my nards off. Picked up the shovel this morning and all that spring itch was gone down the drain. I hate Alberta winters.
