.280
I have owned and still own some .280s
Ross .280 (287" not .284 like the other .280s I have never fired it. but Let a friend shoot it last summer, He shot a Vbull at 300 meteres 1st shot, but he is not a ordinary shooter, he something special. Alain is his name, he has won Bisley 3 times.
Had one made up on a 700 action in .280 Rem by Hart 24" stainless 1/2" gun
Had a Rem 7mm mag .284 in BAR poor gun firing pin problems 1'++ at 100 yards.
I have a 1992 production .280 Rem 700 BDL NIB never fired. kinda the last nice wood and blueing.and good workmanship.
Best factory made gun I owned was a Rem 700 in 7mm express 22" barrel
53gr 4831 1/2" at 100 never sold guns to personal friends but I sold this one to a buddy and we are still buddys, he just loves it.
But the best .284 of all is a Rem 700 action Hart 24" stainless. 6lbs 4oz with Mcmillan stock in 7mmwsm while working loads gun fired 3 shots under .125 at 100 and .480 at 200yards it is just by far the best .284 I have ever owned, I tryed some magpro for a hunting load 140gr Nosler Partitions not quite 3300fps, this gun does not take a back seat up against the Rem 7mm mag.
I watched a fello shoot F class last weekend at Connaught at 900 meteres with a 7mmwsm score was 75 with 13 v-bulls some cartridge.
Its to bad the american manufactures just go on what will sell the best and make there guns in .270wsm and not the 7mmwsm for its a better bullet.
maybe the Ghost of Jack Oconnor
And don't forget the Win 284 my brothers shoots them in 1.5" at 300 yards
