i was wondering if there was someone out there that could help me with the trigger kit install. I can remove the stock parts out just fine but I run into problems when I get to installing the new hammer and hammer spring.

If you have the new plastic trigger group you may not be able to install the VQ set-up.

You can tell if you have the new (no after market parts fit) model by taking apart the trigger mech.

If the hammer has 2 removeable washer/sleeve units on it then you are ok, its a direct replacement.

If you have the new fangled non removeable washer/sleeve hammer..... you sir are boned......

The first plastic trigger groups that came out had the "old" model of hammer..... all the ones coming off the line now have the one piece units that you can't currently replace with aftermarket stuff.

I personally think that this is BS.... Ruger IMO is trying to force the guys in the after market to redesign their stuff, which will make the costs of those parts go up, which makes it less likely for us to buy it..... BS

I assume that since you can remove/replace the factory mechanism, but the VQ unit will not go in there that you have the new trigger unit...... All you can do is find a older model trigger assembley or buy an aftermarket trigger assembley...

Pics would help a bunch......

that is the trigger i'm trying to use.

everything else i bought from them fits like a glove and had no problems installing.

Yup thats the VQ kit........

Now how about some pics of you current trigger unit, the factory one.

I can't tell if yours will work with this kit till I see pics of it.

I installed that same trigger kit in my old 10/22, and it dropped right in. I have a "power custom" trigger kit on the way right now for my new 10/22... it has the plastic trigger group but it still has the "old" hammer config.

What problem are you exactly having with the hammer and spring? Tight fit?? No fit???

the 10/22 that i have is a brand new heavy barrel target model.

i've also put on the tundra stock, new exactor, bolt buffer, and auto bolt releas, it aslo has the tactical solutions extened mag release. as i said all those parts fit perfectly on the gun

hmmmm, seems to me you have that new fangled hammer..... I just got told that if you remove the shims from the kit (the round washers) the VQ hammer may fit.....

I asked WTF...... shouldn't the trigger body be the same as the others.... seing as how plastic/old hammer & plastic/new hammer fit in the 10/22 anyway......

apparently not.......

i'm i suppost to use the spring that came with the kit (pictured above) or the spring on the factory hammer strut? If i just use the new trigger and trigger plunger and plunger spring, and use the factory hammer, i should get the reduce trigger pull though right?

Yes you would get the same trigger weight, but the take up may still be there, maybe to a lesser extent than with the VQ, but still way better than the factory take-up. I'd polish the factory hammer first....... Polish the Heck out of it...... Polish only don't take out any of the metal or alter the angles of the "notch" at the bottom of the hammer. Then re-install....... and bang away.....

yep thats what screwed me over... but... some light sanding with 800 grit sandpaper boom done.. I used the after market hammer as a template..

I had no problems... but.... i had to order some stock hammer bushings from cheapgunparts.com for 12 bucks us including shipping took 10 days to get it ... The spring if you look at the end what you do is push down on the spring and slide the black washer off its a pain in the ass to put back on... with the hammer might be lose unless you got the hammer bushings as well.. works great in my gun and yes mine is plastic..

what I did since I didnt want to wait 2 weeks was put the stock hammer back in because I wanted to shoot my gun anyways everything else was done but if you live in my area and are close by I can come out and show you how to do it not hard at all..easy with 2 hands or the right tools that I couldnt find in my house lol..
