I'm hooked on 1-4 & 1-6 optics! :-)

You know, I was going to say "wow AWESOME rig man, wish I could have that.." then I kept scrolling down. Now I HATE you.

lol :D But seriously, how do you compare the Razor over the Viper?

I love my variable optics :D

Then I upgraded:

I just dropped a leupold vx2 1-4x20 on my su16 and love it, except the darn 20mm alumina flip cap that costs the same as a 40 or 50mm one :)

without checking the specs on them, I swear it feels lighter than the bushnell trs-25 I had on it before, nice and clear, and 4x is decent at 100 yards with my bad eyes, I couldn't even see the red dot at 100.

Very nice AR's!! What names brands did you end up purchasing? You managed to score a magpul mag with the window, very nice look and the quad rails make the gun look mean!! The last one on the right is a 22lr?

Far left is a non-restritcted AR180B, middle a Norinco AR, far right is a 10/22.

I figured you burned that carpet. LOL.

I just put on a VxR patrol on the Colt, 1.25-4. Like it so far.

Hahaha. I still like IDPA. Might be shooting the upcoming Ottawa match. IPSC is just more fun for me.

As for the 1.25 I have tried them and I find for close up shooting it is slower than a true 1x. Don't think any of the top 3-gun guys use them.

As part of my "CQB on the cheap" project, I put a $100 scope on my Norinco AR. Go to Ebay and search Visionking 1.25-5

It is very much like my Millet, except it is up to 5X instead of just 4X.

So far it works well.

I mounted an older VariX II 1-4X20 with a German #1 reticle on my Norc M14. I'm absolutely shocked at how quickly I can engage targets all the way out to 200m!! I'm definitely going to keep this combo for a while!

I ordered one on your previous recommendation and got it. Can't compare it to anything but a Bushnell so I can't say how the clarity is compared to more expensive optics. I like the reticule, but will have to mount it on a gun and shoot with it. What distance do you have it sighted in at? How do you do your holds for further distances?

I sighted it in at 100, set the dial to "0" then zeroed at 25 yd for CQB. That was up to around the 300 yd setting. I don't think it is as sharp as my Millet scope, but at 25 yds, who can tell?

That's one thing I love about the MTAC! It has the center dot and three more under it. If you sight the center dot at 100m the next dot down does 300m, next dot 400m and last dot 500m. For 200m you use the bottom of the center dot. One thing 3-gunners found out is that the second dot down for 400m is exactly perfect to compensate for 25m and under due to the AR lower bore axis. Just awesome!

I might take mine out to do some service rifle events and that's up to 500m iirc. What's the farthest you have reached out accurately with one of those? Any tips on holds when you don't have the time to dial in?

For CQB, I run a vortex 2x7x35 scope. And love it! Its got a 3.5 to 4 inch eye relief. I run with both eyes open, so I've never had a prob with fast target acquisition. Inside 20 yards, I use the bottom reticle on the scope and that gives me my 3.5 inch drop. Its zero'd at 100 yards, and when I went to stretch its legs out to 300y, (Hold over) the lowest hash marks is dead on at 7 power, with me getting a 6 inch group. I'm sure reaching out to 400 is not an issue. Sure I'm not shooting MOA with it, but it works great on 10 inch plates.
Cheap scope, works great in the rain, snow, and b!tch cold, never fogs up.
Very happy with Vortex.

Any updates? Haven't mounted mine yet as I'm waiting for the T97's to hit the stores, but curious minds'd like to know ;)

The VisionKing is still working just fine. I don't think it is optically as sharp as the Millet, but have not really done any valid comparisons.

I use it on my Norinco, having moved the Millet from it to a NEA. It is plenty good enough for CQB.

Thanks for the reply! Now I'm even happier about my purchase. Have you stretched its legs? Any tips on holds?

IOR Valdada makes a 1-10x

Leupold, Vortex, Khales and Swarovski make a 1-6

Of course there is the Leupold 1-8 but good luck getting one.

Sure there are a couple more but can't think of them.

At the shot show two years ago, I really liked the Khales.

While it's not in the same class as the MRAD and other optics mentioned here, I've had wonderful success using the Weaver V3 on my lever action rifles:

These style of scopes are fairly light with generous eye-relief, but the best thing is you can shoot them at 1x with both eyes open. I love mine.

Bushnell is doing a 1-8 FFP too.

Just added another little 1-4x gem to the collection. Bushnell AR .223. Amazing little optic, very clear glass, nice simple BDC reticle and the turret adjustments have a really solid precise feel, much nicer than many of my 1-4's costing more than double the price.
