I'm Interested in a Seal Hunt

Otokiak: Nakomiq!

I've eaten seal. Kinda "strong" in the meat world but, as pointed out, sea creatures tend to taste of the sea...(I'm glad cows don't taste like grass!) One thing, (small-town Ontario perspective) is that, if it's boiled, you'll know one's in the pot before you make it through the door!

Nothing better than a flipper pie , the meat tastes alot like turr as already stated ...........

From up da bay is ya by' ?

I was having a chat the other day, now I don't know how old you are, but it was about turr hunting back in I'd say 95/96...
The by's went out from Western Bay, Blackhead and Broadcove,..and a few from Ochre pit Cove...

while out, a storm set in... winds were pretty strong, but not a real gale..we say..but the snow was mad, snowin' to beat the band if it ever was,..

There were many boats on the water,... a few good friends, and the gunnels (wales) began to ice up... I know a few had axes and were chopping it off, others who didn't, were sitting with a heavy boat in the rough North Atlantic water, gunnels barely above..

There were grown men who though they would never see shore again, and some very distraught from it...

Some made bargains,.vowing to never have another drink if they could only make it in to shore,..

everyone gathered on land were praying and praying..

Well you know where these places I mentioned are....

Some of them drifted so far off course they went ashore in Carbonear and Harbour Grace.. other fellas went off course and went the other ways almost to Baie de Verde...(that's the end down there,..you float off the continent)

3 of the guys who were out that day in the video (posted just back a ways),...that video was shot behind Broad Cove...(You knows, on yer way to Nordern Bay Sands ;))

Spent a good many nights at the Coach House, The Cave, The Mariner once, and of course, I have been up there for da big bashes like Platinum Blonde and BTO and Blu Rodeo :D:D:D:D

I'm from the North Shore, and I is a North shore Pork Eater if there ever was one... good to see a fellow countrymen...

Take er easy me ol ####

Seal

Geez I could seal hunt every time I go out fishing now. The seals follow our boats around and wait till we hook a salmon or big trout. Once the fish tires the seal will just take it. They periscope up behind the boat while we are out all the time about 50ft or so off the stern.
