The Browning BLR has been a very popular choice for lever shooters for decades and will be a a long time. It offers much of which a bolt gun would offer in easy scope mounting, an excellent mag system and modern cartridges in a strong action with pointy bullets. While I have never been much of a lever fan at all, a BLR in 308 would give up nothing to a bolt gun and would be an excellent choice for the OP.I’ve never gotten to excited about hunting levers. The old 99C (clip) worked well and was reliable. Win 94 big bore in 307-(308) power kicked lots but killed well. Browning have all been small caliber and also did not stick around. I think you would want 308 energy, at least I would.
