Further... I was looking at a bunch of scopes for my AR. I was looking at Millet and Redfield, Nikon and even Leopold. Held them all, side by side. Every one of these, even the Leopold with the red dot, the glass was distorted. Worse in the low end Redfiled and Millets. I got a Trijicon 1-4x24 for the AR... very sweet, much more expensive than the others, but at least the glass is clear.

I know people like to bash Bushnell, say what you like they have some of the clearest, brightest glass in the industry. I'm not going to get into a debate about quality, and this and that, and what you want in the sandbox and all that. Not everyone can afford NF or S&B, or Hensoldt.

That just suck Sightron SIII series don't make one between the 3.5-10X and the 6-24X !!! 6X is just to much for close shots and 10X is a bit tight for long range...
I think the bushnell fits well my needs...

Guys, I really think I'm gonna go with the Bushnell 2.5-16X42.

The sightron's are nice but I really would like to have something in the middle of a 3-9X and a 6-24X...

The Vortex is only made with a 50mm objective wich IMO is a little big for my hunting rifle, 42 @ 44mm would be just fine.

I will try to find a used Bushnell and if I don't find one, I will buy it brand new :p

Thx for your help guys !!!
When the rifle will be back from the gunsmith and the scope will be mouned I will post pics...

What about a Viper HS 4-16x44 LR?

If I go with a Vortex it will be a PST 4-16X...

The thing is I think a 50mm objective will be too big for the rifle, that's why I think I gonna buy a Bushnell but the bushnell have a 42mm objective wich is a bit small so that's why I was asking :

Do you think the light transition will be good with the bushnell elite tac. 2.5-16X42 ???

Please note that quality of glass thrumps mag

we shoot this SIII3.5-10 out to a mile effectively.

I prefer the SIII6-24 but if that is a bit much for you, then the 3.5-10 will blow you away with how much you can seed.

Yes, they need a middle ground here and I have been bugging Sightron for a few years now.

for my hunting rig, the SII Big sky 3-9x42 is a gem and you will see a whole lot more then you imagine.

These Sightron scopes give you superior glass to pretty much everything you have listed.

If you can, look through one and I think you will be impressed with what you see.

I heard bad things about the 4-16 glass, the glass in the 6-24 is very good though

I have a 6-24x50 PST, and my brother has a 4-16x50 PST. Tough to tell the difference in optical quality, although I hear there is more variation in the 4-16x models than the 6-24x.

Jerry,

Just curious if you've had a chance to compare the PST and an equivalent SIII side by side, and what were your impressions?

I already looked into a Sightron SIII and honestly its very clear, not as much as my NF :D but its clear, better than a bushnell for sure.
Never had a chance to look into a Viper PST... :onCrack: But I heard alot of good things about Vortex.

The SII BigSky is a nice scope but with 1 inch tube and less elevation adjustment than a SIII.
I'm still in the fog but thx !!!

Continue bugging !!!
I want to be able to hunt at 500-600 yards so a 10X is not enough 4 my needs...
It is possible I hunt at very close distances too like 75 @ 100y so a 6X is a bit big...
I now I need a *compromise* scope between the two, smething like 2.5-16X, 4-14, 4-12X...

What you mean by more variation ???

Can you post a picture of your scope ???

Nice 75$ rebate !!!

Here is a quick pic of the 6500 Elite 2.5-16x42 mounted, with the sun shade and Butler Creek flip ups.
