I'm building my Dad a nice gopher gun. I will be buying 6 of them in total. One for Dad, My Three Uncles, My Sister and One for my Aunt.

These are going to be gifts this spring. I love the Winchesters but finding 6 of them is difficult. I don't do alot of rimfire so anyone know what the options are?

Henry makes a nice .22WRM lever OH And don,t forget your long lost cousin vstar650ca he would love one too:D

Yep, if you want a current production (you do need to find 6 of them) lever action .22WMR, then Henry is your only choice. If you want to mount scopes on them, go with the basic model, the H001M as the receiver is grooved to accept scope rings. But if you want to go with iron sights, get either the H001TM Octagon barrel model or the H004M Golden Boy. They have much better sights than the base model, but you need to use a special cantilever mount if you want to scope 'em...

Their website says the octagon barrel is grooved for scope mounting.
The Henry Lever Action .22LR & .22Magnum with a 20" Octagon Barrel and Sporting Sights. The receiver is already grooved to accomodate a scope.

22 WRM lever guns

I've owned a Winchester 9422 M now for over 34 years , used it plenty on groundhogs out to about 135 yards , it has never failed once in all that time , mine was bought when they first came out , ( without checking on pistol grip /forearm ) it's very accurate and lots of punch out to that range even for wolfs , I've looked at the Henry and it looks pretty good , never fired one but have heard many positive comments on it , if you can find a Marlin 1894 in .22 magnum , buy it , ( I've seen one one these and I've been going to gun shows for over 30 years ) it's also well made and accurate , if you find the gun shows in your area and be patient you will probably locte what your looking for . Sounds like your set on a levergun but other choices would be Mossberg 640 "chuckster" or Marlin 982 in 22 magnum, both are bolt actions .If your thinking of scoping these rifles , I'd suggest low power scopes , 4X should do it , ( off hand shooting is easier ) good luck...later ...Joe

Oh yeah, look at that... I just figured they were using the Golden Boy receiver cover on the Octagons, but they are using the standard one. So, the Octagon really is the best of both worlds then, grooved receiver and the nicer Marbles sights.
