You did not not mention about what type of firearms license do you require. Anyways, in order to get the eligibility to apply for the license you must go through firearms safety training course.

Hi. Like gunnerjacky says, what are you planning on shooting? Handguns are actually easier to shoot in the TO area, but you must join a club. Your budget matters too. You're looking at several hundred dollars for the courses and tests, plus the club membership. Then the cost of the firearm on top.
I had a great time doing the safety courses with Wellesley Consulting. They offered a weekend course out of a hotel's conference room in Missisauga for a fair price and had great instructors who, like most instructors I imagine, really want their students to succeed and get involved with the hobby so they teach in an engaging manner that makes it easy to ace the tests
