Hey guys and gals
just wanted to pick some of your brains and get some other input .
I'm torn between three handguns for my next purchase ....a 9mm this time and would like to ask for some guidance..
before any of you chime in and say buy all three ( as much as I'd like to not an option)lol
anyways.
92fs-----glock-----s&w mp range kit.

this isn't going to happen tomorrow so I'm not rushing my choice. would like to have made my choice by holidays though.
if you had to choose one of the three,
also I have to decide if I should spend the money and join a new club that has an indoor shooting range that is open 7days aweek that is taking new members.
example target sports barrie gun club .....
my club is outside and limited shoot dates...
too many things to decide on
what do you think.
Glenn.

I've been mulling over the same question. I will shoot a few 9mm's at my range but in the meantime I'm leaning towards the Glock. I like the compacts so specifically I'm eyeing the Glock 19 with aftermarket barrel. I like the look of the SS P229 as well - will probably shoot that too when I get a chance.

The Glock has issues shooting lead bullets. It is best to upgrade the bbl to something like LoneWolf so it can shoot lead. If you go that far, you could buy a Glock 22 and the conversion bbl than you could shoot .40S&W and 9mm with a simple bbl change. I'm not recommending the Glock but this is an option with the Glock. Cheaper than two guns. The Glock is light and hard as hell to shoot.

if you are looking at the 19 or 229 (i.e. the 4.15" range) definitely check out the Walther P99 AS. just picked one up for a great price and Canada Ammo, and it has the nicest ergonomics of just about any pistol i have handled, good features (decocker), beautiful trigger and very accurate. my favourite polymer frame gun on the market by far. definitely a step up from the glock for not much more money. (just IMHO glock fans)

Why do you want to shoot lead bullets? Yes the Glock is light, but no if you applied the correct fundamentals no it is not hard to shoot. All modern poly pistols are quite light. Walther ppq, S&W m&p, HK P30, they don't forgive poor form and sloppy practices. If you shoot well they show it, if you shoot bad it doesn't cover up for you and makes you look bad.

To OP my recommendation would be glock or the m&p range kit, my money would be on the glock, but it's your money your call. I wouldn't bother with the beretta.

Someone else suggested a walther p99as, which got replaced by the ppq. I wouldn't buy either but it's your call, oh and those two are more than a glock.

If you are looking at the sigs, I highly recommend searching hard for a german made sig, the us made ones have had a patchy start

CZ 85 combat. If it has to be between the above get the glock . I've got a couple. The SW for me is not a question for me anyway as these guys has proved themselves as revolver guys who try to improve on existing semi producers (YEA I take it back cause of the model 39 back in the day... which had to be tweeked to feed at it's outset and was never reliable , The 92 is more appealing as far as it's not a "Tupper gun". But generally they are loose as a goose and really a military gun. I like glocks. Never had a FTF and they are as accurate as most others. for the range get the stock rather than the NY trigger.

Out of those three id choose 92 fs .
I don't have any of the fore mentioned but had a glock and a 92 and handeled the M&P ,
They all are reliable and can be accurate .
For me, I like the grip angle, Comfort, style, accuracy I can achive best in the 92 FS.
For me the only advantage of the other pistols is that they are cheaper, but there good guns to ...

Have you shot a 92fs? If you find it a comfortable gun to hold I'd suggest you find and try holding a CZ 75/85/Shadow before you decide. I've got big hands but as much as I like my 92fs I find that the CZ's fit me a lot better. That better fit leads to slightly better draw and fire scores in the speed based matches that I like shooting with handguns. For simple standing and target shooting where I have time to compensate the guns are a wash.

The Glock and M&P are both striker guns and both polymer framed. With the selectable rear straps of the new Gen 4 guns I don't see much to choose from between the Glock and M&P options other than for the grip angle. For me the Glock has an odd inbetween sort of grip angle that I simply do not like. But if it's what you get and you shoot it often enough you can adapt to anything.

something to keep in mind that is rarely discussed between the glock and the M&P is where the glock sits in your hand.
the glock sits really low in your hand with the barrel scant mm above your thumb and hand which some people find makes it harder to site and shoot.
where the M&P sits up a bit higher more in like with most other pistols which if your use to shooting pistols may seem like a more natural height.

a ways back there was a fella that actually had pics showing the difference between them.
i always enjoyed shooting my glock until i got my S&W and now i rarely if every shoot my glock just do to the comfort and accuracy i get from the M&P.

to each his own though.

Its very difficult to decide between a polymer, striker fired pistol lile a glock/m&p/xd OR a steel framed, hammer fired, s/d action like the 92fs or a CZ. They are two totaly different animals. Try and figure out which style you want, then look at individual models.

+1.
It is more what you want to do with your gun down on the road. I have P99 AS for tactical and CZ SP01 for competition. Please take a look the P99 AS if you toward to polymer. It is a very high quality firearm for the money even they are not as popular as Glock. You will be surprise of how beautiful of it shoot and finish.

Just from a pricing point of view. The M&P range kit. There is a black friday sale at IRG starting tomorrow.

The 3 choices are very different guns. If I was going to make your list for you, it would look like this:

Beretta 92FS
Sig P226
CZ 75 or 85

Now start again...

I did it all upside down, secured a DE 44 mag, Coonan 357 mag but at the end finally secured a Ruger Single 10 22 lr and a Girsan 9mm... To learn to shoot handguns... JP.

Agreed, 226 would be the clear winner. By the way BGN is a 24/7 indoor, ventilated, range. 3 month probationionary period, 1 year no solo shooting(someone must be with you).
