BRNO.... You mentioned Modl B.... A cpl of years ago I ran into a cpl. and so of course they came home with me. Both pre-war Oberndorf. in 7 x 57 the other in 8 x57. They are in nice shape but I have no idea of their value. Perhaps you or MAUSER may have some idea.

There where 16 variations of the Model B, and condition is a factor as well. PM me and I'll give you more info on your rifle.

Velcomin my freind. Now you joine the ranks of the wise and ahhhh well wise is good enough. As someone that is commonly reffered to as a "Mauserhead" it nice to see someone see the light. As we all know most modern day rifles are just "modified" Mausers. That indeed, is a compliment to the ppl that continue to produce them. I have several stk military and custom sporting rifles built on Mausers. Enjoy. Collect them all ..l.o.l.

When our family friend offered to take me hunting for the first time, we had to go get a rifle for me to use. It ended up being an all origonal Belgium made 1950 mauser. It was as big as me for wieght and hieght! She didn't shoot all that well but I have never been able to kick the mauser habit since.
Had a push feed once, but I felt like I was just not doing something right, sold it in a few months.:p

It just cannot get anymore classic than this. Let the picture speak for itself, I am only now realizing this was the coolest retro hunt I've had the pleasure to take to date.

Sad to say, I've no pick of my Black wolf with my Brno 21H.:( What a beautiful pic that would have been!

Sign me up with your "Mauserhead" league Abe, I'm in! :)

I used to be pretty impressed with the slickness of a mauser action (and still am based on the collection of BRNO's and M98's that have gone through the household)...but for slick you also need to play with a Mannlicher Schoenauer 1950 model....

also ... in the interest of a balanced point of view...I think the MS actions are as slick as it gets ....BUT don't misunderstand... they are exceptional when you are playing with them in your lap...when you are trying to work the bolt in the field when the rifle is at your shoulder .... you need the arms (and strength) of a Orang Utan....my experience.

IMHO .. for real quick follow up shots with a bolt action....NOTHING beats an SMLE.....too bad I don't own one yet though..

I really like my two mausers, an FN made K98, rebarreled to 458 American, and a pre-war 22 LR, model of ES350B.

I know it is just a 22, but it has several fine features that Kimber of America has copied.

Both of these rifles are very good shooters........
Bye the way, very nice pic Noel, thank you.

Noel, pretty piece of wood on the 9.3, much better than norm. How's the recoil compared to say 30-06 in a similar gun. Very classy "old school" rifle, I'd be happy to have one myself.

Pat, I would put the recoil in about the 338-06 class for top handloads. It has a bit more drop at the heel so the barrel comes up a bit more than a typical Yankee stocked rifle. At the same time, the recoil seems easier to take when there is no scope to cuddle up to.

It has the solid Bakelite butt plate, so extended sessions at the bench are not Care Bears and rainbows but it is managable when wearing a PAST pad.
It is more like a strong shove than a "kick". As per usual, when shooting at game I did not give a second thought to oh boy, this is gonna hurt..

If you want one, I suggest getting ahold of aacollectible and he will do his best to fix you up. He is a real gent as is his Dad to deal with.

Best part of all, this rifle weighs in at no more than 7 1/2 lbs so it is a delight to carry all day.

Got to finish off my FN whelen first before I start another "project" (read money pit). My whelen's not going to be quite as traditional, Rimrock stock and Leupold VXll 2x7. If I ever see an commercial FN actioned 9.3x62 Husqvarna in great shape, I'm doomed. Think I'd run iron sights on it though.
Nice moose BTW, but you already know that!

Incidentally, no one has a pic of a Israeli Mauser sniper rifle, do they?
I may be picking up an Israeli Mauser off a mate and he has a 3x Meopta mil scope to match with "post-&-side-bars" reticle.
I'd like to set it up like a sniper rifle but am unsure exactly how they were setup.
Did they have an offset sidemount like the Kar98k snipers?

There's a reason people used to call it the fastest bolt action.

There are so many wonderful M98's...all a fellow needs is money!

How about a petit little Commercial Kurz in .250-3000? Wouldn't that be a great rifle to take on a deer hunt?

You know, I have been thinking about doing that or a 257 Roberts on a Model 94 or 96.

I have to say Ted, the .257 Roberts is a great little cartridge, but the .250-3000 just does something for me. It makes no sense, but somehow I can't help being drawn to it!

I bet an M94 or 96 with a dainty little wood stock in a classic style would be a rifle anyone would be proud to own. I know I would.

While not strictly a mauser, a 257 in the Husqvarna small ring 1600 series action with steel floorplate would be pretty sweet, once you replaced the trigger. I'd personally opt for a 6.5x55 over the Roberts, but that's just me. (not many rockchucks and/or coyotes on the Island). To take the thread further afield I was out shooting my 6.5x55 today (700 action) and was getting over 2800 fps with 140 Sierras, with 3 shots well under an inch. That closing on 270 territory, with a lot less powder and kick.
