what is a good source in canada for the bell and carlson duramaxx stock? I was going to order one from cabelas but heard that they might not ship to canada

That is an awsome rifle & scope combination, you'll be impresses as I am with mine. A model 16 with a Leupy 4.5-14, very similar rig to yours. Is it the look that displeases you with the stock? I ask because I'd hang on a bit before you switch. Those Savage synthetic stocks are probably one on the easiest stocks to work with in terms of bedding and forend stiffening. They already come pillar mounted, you'll be amazed what tack drivers they can be with a good pillar/bedding combination. If you like nice wood, I'd recommend Boyd's.

I can honestly say that I havent shot it enough to know how the performance is going to be.. but the look and finish of this stock is pretty bad. there are lots of mold marks and rough edges. as well the barrel doesnt sit dead center in the stock, there is a bigger space on one side than then other. I am going to give it some time, but sometimes first impressions are hard to shake.

................never buy a Savage for looks. Buy one because you want to hit what you are aiming at!!:D Known for great accuracy but also known for not being very astheticaly pleasing. Those Weaver rings and bases aren't helpin the issue either:D

I have the same gun in 300 win, a real tack driver but... heavy to pack, I notice it a bit going up and down the mountains, that bull barrel.....still love it though

my dad and i both shoot the savage 12fvss in .223, factory stock and anywhere between 300 and 1000yards We shoot at the 1000yard shooting range when we can. You cannot ask for a more accurate, out of the box, gun.

Nice gun ,I bought one in 22-250 last summer and love to shoot it.Indeed ,the stock is not the best looking ,but it sure is accurate and getting better with time.Just need a bigger scope.

I have a Bell and Carlson duramaxx stock coming for my savage now, its cheap and worth a try I think.
plus when I get it bedded I would like it to be in a stock I am going to stick with for a while.
just trying to decide whether to attempt the bedding job myself, or look for a place to send it and have it done

very nice gun I was looking at the same one today at my local shop it had a bushnell banner 3-9x40mm on it....just waiting on a gun auction in a couple months if there is nothing there I will be buying the savage in the .270.
