I'm over buying winchester ammo

Winchester Ammo blows goat.

Nothing like being with your buddies at the trap range with a big bulk case with one "click-boom" after another.

Also I found the .22 ammo (dynaduds) Jam 'O matics.
I either reload, or I'm happy to drive 100kms out of my way to buy Federal.

The only stuff I will buy now is the 12 gauge Slugs, and New Brass.

just out of curiosity (I know you clay dudes use break-open shotguns), but what would happen if the above were to happen on a repeater shotgun such as a pump or semi and a second shot was fired? KB?
When it happened to me I noticed immediately that the shell sounded wrong and opened the action.

With a semi-auto I doubt the shell would have had enough strength to eject but with a pump if the shooter weren't paying attention and fired a KB would be the result.

The one that bothers me is the brass case head separating from the plastic hull tube. The shell sounds right but only the brass ejects leaving the hull inside the chamber. A new shell goes into the gun and the plastic moves into the forcing cone with potentially disastrous results.

I've used 3" Winchester Super X Dryloks in a Mossberg 590 and have NEVER had a problem with them.

I have never had a problem with winchesters (I usually buy AA exclusively) but we did have a problem with a batch of Estate (We bought 9 cases at 60% off to practice with)paid $22 per case had problems cycling in the Semis worked fine in the single shots.....turns out they were the wrong length....some of them were off by 3/8s of an inch. Emailed the Company. They cut us a check to replace every last shell and told us to keep the ammo for the single shots....

I use Winchester rifle brass pretty extensively, and a fair number of winchester rifle primers as well (although I opt for federal match for precision guns)

In my experience with reloading AA hulls the quality seems to have gone in the toilet in the last 5 or so years. I am now only getting 2 or 3 reloads before serious splits develop.

yah Winchester .22lr blows.

I think the only ammo that has done about as bad was red box american eagle .22lr...that stuff dudded just as much.

CCI all the way for .22lr

I have quite a few boxes of 12 guage Winchester Ranger low recoil law enforcement 00 and slug though, havent tried it yet. Anyone have any experience with these?

Power Point .22LR was pretty good stuf when it was around. Rifle ammo has been consistent for me as well, same with shotshells. About the only thing I've had trouble with was DynaPoint .22's, inconsistent and poor terminal performance

The massive marketing machine that Olin Corp, and the Winchester Brand are, have no doubt falsly influenced purchasers as to their continued quality of product for quite sometime. At one time I repped Kent for Alberta, and I bought a box of all the competing products, Win. included and took a knive to all of them to see just what was inside, and it was quite incredible to see the vast number of low quality componants inside of factory loaded shotshells. Easy to see how they can market target ammo at $40.00 a flat or less. And as for the continued reloadability of the "New AA" hull, thats just a joke compared to the Compression formed hulls. The Hi speed line of Steel shotshells that they compare to Kent Fasteel used a round shotholder that in no way would be considered to be a "wad", no wonder they're $5.00 less a box. Back when they were using 452AA and 473AA powders and compression formed hulls they did manufacture a top quality product, but those days were a very long time ago. FS

Claybuster is right about winch Shotty Ammo. Bought a box of target rounds a while back, and 3 of them were unusable due to bulges in the hull. I recently had some problems with .357 brass misshaping after being re-loaded. The Remmy shells I used did not have this problem. Overrall I have not had too many positive experiences with Winch Ammo.

Each to their own, though. :)

As for rifle cartridges, they just are not consistent enough for me.

Same here. Ive switched to federal partitions for hunting or federal soft point (the cheap stuff) for target/off season/practice shooting.
If no one has federal in stock ill buy the cheapest remington ammo.

The only time we use winchester is their WinClean in 9mm.

i switched out from winchester in the fall bought a box of .303br powerpoints for the last bear hunt i would be able to go on by myself. they cost me $22.95 box was brand new the shells where corroded and nasty looking bullet tips where all either dinged up of broken off. i called winchester at thier customer relations number and gave them a blast of ####for close to an hour. they sent me 2 cupons t oget free box of ammo i promptly sent them back and told them that i will never again buy there products nore will i ever recomend there products to any of my shooting friends and family now i buy all federal or in the case of 22's CCI *still have 2 bricks of dynapoints to dispose of properly though*

I'm surprised you guys have had so many problems with Dynapoints. They've been great for me both in reliability and accuracy. Federal has been the crappier brand for .22LR in my experience.

Lets look at recent company politics, oh yeah the company is now closed. Sorry, but the employes probably spat into the mix to make sure the winchester name was destroyed forever! You can blame the problem on the union or Browning in search of profits, you can choose since I have no personal opinion on the matter other than the fact, that if you had a high paying job at a plant, and you were told you no longer a job because of salaries well what would you do!
I love to play the devils advocate!

I've shot Winchester ammo in shotguns, centerfires and rimfires. I have NEVER experianced miss-fires or any problems with it. I'am not a fancy expert, but as a hunter and a wannabe sport shooter I am satisfied with their products. They get the job done for me.

Factory "AA's" have been satisfactory for me, but prefer Remington
STS's, Federal papers and Gamebore Blue Diamonds. No problems with
Kent, Challenger or Fiocchi ... just prefer the results I get with the
what I do.

If the advertising is believable, STS has been the brand of choice at the Grand by a good margin for the last several years... about coincidental
with Winchester making the change.

For "Will I Am" .... Billy, "Winchester Ammunition" and "Winchester Firearms"
are seperate entities. ( i.e. different companies ... Winchester Ammunition
is not "now closed" ! )

With maybe 25,000 of the old-style AA's in 12 & 20, I'm still reloading
them to my heart's content, primarily with Winchester primers, Alliant "promo" and CB AA-replacement wads, but wouldn't hesitate to switch to either
Remington STS's or Federal GM plastic IF & when I run out. ( Have a couple of thousand GM's on hand I'm experimenting with ... no problems at all loading
them up on the PW with either Fed. or CB Fed. replacement wads.)

Last I'd heard, NASA had selected Winchester primers to fire their rocket equipment ... after testing competing brands for reliability. In those tests,
Winchester was the most reliable. Have also used Federal, Remington &
Cheddite primers. No issues with any of them ... except packaging. Winchesters are easier to handle in & out of the primer tray on both
the PW & MEC loaders. Best results with Federal GM rifle primers for all my
rifle reloading however.

Just my 2 cents worth !
