I'm sad, yet surprisingly happy.

I just sold my old Chevy. :(

I'm going to buy a new gun. :)

I feel like this. :yingyang: (I've always wanted to use that smilie)

I'm going to take a portion of that money and put it towards a new rifle, however I'm kind of torn. I like the all weather no holds barred attitude of the Remington 700 XCR, but it's not available in the .308. (What does Remington have against the .308 anyways? Browsing through their catalage they don't have a single 700 in a sporter in .308 but they do in 7mm-08. Whats up with that?) But I like the classic lines and class of the Model 70 Supergrade. Same with the CDL but again neither in .308. I'm always partial to Browning but I still haven't warmed up to the X-bolt. All very different animals, all very nice. Not sure what I like better.

Sigh, I want my truck back. :(

Browning X-bolt. Many reviewers 2009 Rifle of the year. Tough not to warm up to that.

30-06 will do the job better than a .308 if that is an option.

A Chevy is only worth a 700? Got be at least a Sako's worth? ;)

Any vehicle can get to be worth only a Remington 700, if you treat it badly enough for long enough. But he did say he intends to spend only part of the proceeds on the gun.

Don't give up hope. There's always the possibility of the SPS or a used firearm. I saw a Model 7 in 308 on the shelf in Lethbridge WSS. You could also build.

SPS Stainless comes in .308.

Nice rifle.... 7mm-08 would be my choice, though.... ;)

I know that, that's what the wink was for. ;) I was just suggesting in my own way that a bigger part of the loot could go to a new rifle.

I have a Chevy myself that I probably couldn't get a 700 out of :)

That's what they go for around here too. :)

It was an 82 2wd long box I bought when we bought the house. A year before my truck (2000 Ford) was nailed by a drunk and we ended up with a car. I felt like a twit asking other people to borrow their truck and once we got the house I needed somthing so I bought an old beater for a couple hundred bucks, splashed some paint on her and drove it for the last 4 years. Last year she sat in the yard most of the time. I took it hunting and what not but she didn't really move. This year we came to our senses and now have a newer truck for our daily driver, and I no longer needed the old girl. I sold her to some people we kind of know who want her for ttheir daily beater. I actually tried to talk them out of it, seriously. It ran like new but was a work truck not a Caddilac. It needed too much to be a good daily driver and I tried to sell it as a work truck or garbage hauler but they had a hard on for it. Of course their old vehicle was shot and I wasn't going to deny them, but they wanted it so they got it.

As for the new gun, only a small portion is going to go towards it. I have other things we can put the rest towards. And since I made a good profit I gave half to the Wife for her intrests (?) and what not.

I'm either a good Hubby or a fool or both. At least I know I'll get some good back scratches. :D

Yup, it's my work truck I use every day. I hope to get at least 2 more years out of it yet as a new one is no where in my future. :(

The Damn EE always taunts me. Besides I'd rather have a new iron in the safe than a new truck. :D

Shoes and a bigger or "hers only" closet? :D

As for the 7mm-08 only option it may be because Remington originally came out with this mod to the .308... or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.... :D

Reminds me of an old joke:

What is the definition of mixed emotions? Watching your mother-in-law drive your brand new truck over a cliff.

Since Browning quit making Mauser action rifles in Belgium, anything they have build has allows felt like a toy to me.

The new Winchester Featherweight feels ALMOST like a pre-64. Get one. You won't be disappointed.

If you want something accurate, I am sure Tikka makes one?

The Kimber is a beauty too.
