I'm Sorry

I run 240 grain Hornady XTP-MAG with 1 grain under book max with H110 and they will put a smile on your face for sure.
Was at max but it made my hands tingly after each shot, lol.
The Factory Hornady 200 grain FTX loads are really hot as well.
I want to take it to an indoor range and scare the crap out of the rest of the shooters on the line. Nothing like having someone elses pistol make you flinch.
I also have some nice hot 45LC loads for it and will be experimenting with the 454 brass I have as soon as I get my press set up at the new house.

There is one for sale in the EE right now and as tempting as it is to have a pair of them I have to pass for a while.

I'm not usually a revolver fan but this one is a keeper.

Between reading this thread and Tactical870's....I'm starting to want one of these beasts:eek:
I got to seriously stop coming here.

I've shot the .500 with an 8 3/8" barrel. (Indoors) That was awesome. My son and I loved it. The range has a .460 with a shorter barrel. I haven't tried that but someone told me that the recoil was harder and the sound was louder. He seemed to know, he was picking up his .500 at Wanstalls that day. Anyway, they are really great fun. I shot my first 1911 this weekend and it was quite tame in comparison. Some day, I will get a .460 or a .500.

I'll be in Calgary tomorrow. Let me know when to go outside and find out if I can hear you from there! ;)

How does the recoil compare to a BFR in 45 70?

I have yet to shoot the 460V but own a 500 and have shot the 500 back to back to back with the 45/70 BFR and the 50AE DE and I thought the 45/70 kicked more as SA grips just don't sit right in my hands so had a better grip on the 500 I guess. Puts a smile on my face every time I let it loose

Echo we need some vid next time out, preferably some old cinder blocks, water jugs or large fruit for the entertainment value would be nice. :D

I've fired off some of my reloads. Started out on the low end using Ramshot Enforcer, and it still has some whump to her. Have some mid range ones loaded up, will have to see how they bark. Hmmm....maybe this weekend.... Gonna do up a bunch of 300gr XTP's with H-110. If they're anything like my Colt loads, they should have a good belch of flame and shake some of the dust off the rafters.

My apologies to the citizens of Lethbridge.

That was not the sound of thunder, rumbling through the river valley today. Nor was it the police throwing hand grenades.

It was me.....and my 460V :D :D ...

"The earth moved for you", eh? Have you seen hickock45's video of him shooting the .500? (www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-FG9ZKerGM)

As to the personal cam, check out the GoPro HD. I saw them at Best Buy in Bellingham. Pretty amazing, esp. for only $300.

:) Stuart

I haven't chrony'd my loads yet but I'm using the XTM-MAG bullets for my 460 loads because they say they are designed for the higher velocity magnum loads.

I just use lead for the 45 LC loads which I think are 300-340 grain (I have 2 different ones I'm trying and my logbook is at home) and will prob run the regular XTP's when I get time to load up some 454.

So far I've only used H110 for the 460 and 45LC loads. It's fun putting over 45 grains of powder in a pistol cartridge.

For the amount of H-110 I'm stuffing into the case, I decided to go with jacketed 230gr bullets for my heavy Colt loads. It's such a PITA cleaning lead off the cylinder of the .44 mag, I figure the 460 pressures would make it even worse.

Eric if ya go out Sunday let me know! I'd love to see the firework show!

All right then.

To all LFGA loonies who want to see or try this thing out, come on down to range 5 on Sunday, say around 3ish (hey, I'm working nights right now). I'm gonna load up some more rounds to try, and we'll kill that paper good :p :D.
