I'm starting a British Columbia Hunting Mentor Program

I fit that description but I don't have an atv. I have a 4x4 that will go most places an atv will go though. Ive sent you a few PMs since you started the thread.

I'm finding the same issues you are though. It's extremely difficult to find a mentor. I've posted in the hunting buddy thread on hunting bc.com but the only replies I've had are from guys with about the same amount of experience I have (a few years) but have shot the odd animal so a little more success than myself.

I'm at a point where although I have tried finding a mentor, I'm frustrated enough that I'm mostly giving up on finding one and just trying to figure it all out on my own. I would urge some of you more experienced guys out there to maybe try and help out the new guys a little more. I'm stubborn enough that eventually I will figure it out but maybe others won't and will give up. It's tough out there trying to learn by yourself in the bush when the weather sucks.

Well I am off hunting from now to Thanksgiving. I am solo hunting for a week before meeting up with a buddy. I don't have a lot of experience compared to some of the guys here but am willing to help out a raw beginner. And I am always looking to learn more myself. So if anyone, newbie or pro, needs a hunting buddy let me know.

Anywhere between Vancouver and 100 mile/Williams lake area I can meet up.

punched my region 5-2 mulie tag this morning just after first light on a bruiser 5x6 mulie. 165gr 7mm rem mag to the boiler room at about 80 yards. :D

KBCL, send me a message.
we can chat..... again LOL
you all will have to forgive me, I've emptied my inbox and made a decision a few months ago to leave the internet alone for the most part. Just so damn busy LOL

here's my season plan
I'm taking a brand new hunter, the son of a friend I met here years ago who can't hunt this year due to work except the odd Saturday around lowermainland.
So I'm taking this 19 year old kid to my best black tail deer hunting spot and going to blow his mind hopefully hahaha I told him the last 10 km in he has to wear a blind fold so when he comes back he will be in the right area, but will have to use what I teach him to find the high sign areas and a good ambush spot he may use for years to come..... just like it was for me when I was blessed with someone passing it on to me.

Then I'm taking these two young ladies in their early 20's out for a week of mule deer and black bear hunting. Daughters of one of my wife's co-workers who are eager to carry on their late father's hunting tradition. One has taken a few local bucks so has some experience from when her dad was alive. I've got some big shoes to fill taking them out in the woods and teaching them..... there dad was a hard core outdoorsman and cattle rancher.

So that leaves me with a moose hunt I might be able to bring a guy along on..... Quad isn't really required but I have mine for any bullwork.
The hunt is oct 20 to 26 in region 6. I leave on the 18th/19th. Because of my broken body, I gotta sleep in my camper LOL and it's small and sleeps 1 , well, 2 when my wife comes hunting LOL
Then there is November for mature mulie bucks , maybe chance at a white tail.... tree stand and ground blind hunting and it will be cold .... plan for -25 but realistically -5 to -20

that's it.... pm me and we'll see how it pans out

Holy crap you Lucky bugger how com I never get 20 year old weman to go hunting any more Haahaa

Dude.... yer the one who decided work was more important than coming hunting with yer Pal over here LOL and ya, I'm just kidding brother. Lookin forward to our next adventure tho.
might take a new hunter along to the moose grounds this season..... hope yer okay with that ;)

My work requires me to book my time off for the year by end of January, and I booked off 2 days either side of this coming weekend. All my "hunting buddies" decided to knock up their old ladies this year, and either have one on the way, or a newborn they're not allowed to leave... So I find myself hunting "stag" (pun intended) this year. I wonder if we can't get enough of a mentor/protege matchup going, if we get a group of newbs together to try and figure it out together... I've been hunting for 4 years now, got a small buck my first year, and a few grouse since, lol. 45ACPKING, I spent a week up at Canim in July, beautiful country up there for sure.

You're not a newbie You just need a bit of Confidence We all started the same way

Haha. Thanks for that. And I suppose you're right, but I know my limitations and realize that I have much to learn. I started late in the game, nobody else in my family hunts (well, my cousins do, but they live in Alberta and I don't see them often). It would be awesome to follow someone and glean some insight. It's difficult to think like your quarry when you've seen very little of them...

send me a message.... I think my pm's are still on LOL
my email has changed and is no longer public.... I continue to get inundated with rifle problems and work requests and I don't want to continue offending or letting folks down so I figured it was time I buried that email addy.
Not sure what my plans are for the weekend yet but was thinkin either somewhere local (5-1) or I might wander down to my spot near chasm. Me and the wife will be cruising around and checking on my ground blind and treestand locations I scouted out the summer and gonna try and get her a buck. I got two deer tags left and will probably save mine for mature buck season later in oct/nov.
But ya, any of you BC boys wanna do a meet n greet and some deer hunting..... I know a couple decent spots

congrats . 45acpking .any pics of your deer .

I'm probably not posting pics online anymore. I think I removed most of the picture content I've posted here over the past bunch of years.
We'll leave the bragging rights to others from here on in.
I'm just in this thread because I left things hanging and figured I should follow up on what I started. Otherwise, my forum involvement will be at a bare minimum.
Maybe at the end of the season I'll post up the animals I harvested this year but hopefully we have pics of new hunters with their animals instead :D
