I'm thinking of getting my first AR

seems the problem now is finding someone who stocks AR's. LOL.

Might have a line on a stag No one seems to stock NEA or CORE15 Or at least what I'm looking for. Maybe a Daniel Defense in a week or two. Anywhere have stock?

Do you ever shoot anywhere other than a range? The XCR wins in the case. AR is a range queen. I am thinking about buying a stripped AR receiver just on principle, to stand up against the stupid regulations. It'll just sit in my safe as the first step in a "build my own AR" project until who knows when. In the meantime personally I'd get an XCR, Swiss Arms, or similar for actual use, in a .223, before buying a rifle that can't conveniently be used.

My dilemma about non restricted vs restricted is I live 8 min from my gun club so getting out and shooting is not a problem, but with a xcr I could get the 6.8 for hunting.

I think I will eventually end up with both

..The no sights/railed DD rifle(v5) offers the user the ability to run a detachable fixed front sight. This is similar to the stock FSB but it bolts to the rail. The user can also run folding front sights of any number of makes and models. The down side to both these options is that they're bolted on which means you run the risk of them loosening and falling off(it happens a lot)...

One should not have a problem with a rail-mounted front sight, if it is installed correctly. I recommend attaching a semi-permanent Troy Industries fixed front sight and using thread-locking compound. Another pro with the DD M4 V5 is they properly pin the gas block instead of using just set screws.
