Folks,

Has anyone bought one of these? I have ordered one of the IMA British P-1853 Three Band Enfield type Rifle (U.S. Civil War): Untouched [Second Offering]. If I no likey I can return so I am just out the shipping, about $100. These rifles sell for $240.00 plus shipping. It will arrive in around 10 days. I will photo document the musket from it's arrivel through to it's restoration.

What you will get:
• Lock
• Stock [May have Cracks, Missing Chunks, Old repairs, Wood Rot]
• Barrel
• 3 Steel Bands
• Cleaning Rod
• Brass Butt Plate
• Brass Trigger Guard

What you might not get:
• Screws [Hammer, Butt Plate, Lock, etc]
• Nipple
• Brass Nose Cap
• Sling Swivel
• Band Spring
• Other bits…

Typical Condition:
• Will show rust & pitting
• Will be covered in filth
• May not operate
• May be incomplete
• May be broken
• May be frozen in grime
• May have cracks and/or rot in wood

I would love to see the shape she comes in!

I love origionals!! Even if it doesnt work when It shows up, You could always get a new barell for around 150$$

I have a Snider and a short lever MH from them, and the description of "typical condition" is acurate so far as "covered in filth", and "will show rust and pitting" are concerned. On the other hand, both were complete, functional, and cleaned up surprisingly well. The MH is probably shootable. It seems to depend on how much grease they put on when it was stuffed in the palace basement. Some are jewels, some are junk. You pays your money and takes your chances. I seem to have got reasonably lucky.

Hope you enjoy cleaning petrified cosmo with 100 years of dust embedded in it!

Unfortunatley I don't have a suitable camera (not enough money left over from buying guns).

I agree that IMA are good to deal with. To save customs grief, mine came described as "toy guns", one got opened and examined, the other did not. One other thing worth mentioning, if you are getting a bayonet, it will probably be in worse shape than the gun.

They also partnered with Atlanta Cutlery on the Nepalese deal, IMA got most of the guns, Atlanta Cutlery got some of the guns and all of the Khukris. Heaven for Ghurka fans like me.
 
One thing to remember they are not real British issue P53 muskets, but locally made copies manufactured on British machinery at the Royal Nepalese Armory. They are pretty rough, but for the price its worth taking a chance.
