Imagine if you could change the Type 81 and SKS, what would you do?

Low rail on the receiver cover (have it screw in place, if necessary, to hold zero) and an aperture on a leaf like on the AK12, or something like a Tech Sight straight from the factory.

The SKS mags with the stripper clips are actually great. I can't see why an AK mag would be of any advantage. I am glad I kept all my stripper clips which were standard on the Russian surplus ammo. Most people threw them into the garbage. Now they are $2 each but probably still worth that to make loading fast and easy. Unfortunately they only work if you don't have a rail mounted. I guess that's what bothers many people.

Young guns request: Put a scope on the SKS!

Me *grumble grumble...not really feasible...grumble...just shoot the gun....grumble grumble*

Zero-interest in changing them...I collect and enjoy them for the nostalgia of what they are. Well, I'd pull the mag pins, but thats true for all my guns.

Not so much a change, but I would love to source a 20-round Chinese SKS fixed mag... of course in a perfect world where mags aren't limited!! The SKS is excellent in factory form and most will grow to appreciate them as time moves on. Yes, I hang on to all my stripper clips.

For the Sks I’d say the two biggest improvements I’d make would be tighter stock/receiver fit and smooth out the trigger, both of these things would improve accuracy. A factory optic mount would be a nice option as well, a small solid rail to run a red dot or smaller low power optic.

I wish they could have brought in an underfolder t81. Also i wish i could change the fact people say its derived from an sks. The freaking charging handle knob is the only thing sks about it. Look at a dragunov svd dissasembled and an ak and you see mom and dad

I only find gritty triggers on my Russian SKS, the Chinese triggers are better. Same for the stocks, yes I know the wood is higher quality on the Russian SKS but the Chinese have a tighter fit.

For both: slap an AK side rail on. Optic needs to be center to the bore and low profile, without impeding disassembly.

For SKS: detachable box mag without the duckbill
For T81: more ergonomic safety (hint: the SKS safety is good enough)

Tyle 81 folder changes:

- Galil-type rear sight at the rear of a more solid receiver cover (front sight can stay where it is)
- Galil-type folding stock
- Galil-style charging handle
- Threaded barrel with an effective flash hide
- 90-degree ambi safety instead of the existing 180-degree safety

Can anyone guess that I like the Galil platform ;)

My chinese triggers are awful. I think the refurb russians had better triggers. But in the millions of rifles made your mileage may vary.

The first two would require significant tooling set up and testing.

I can't see any benefits with the galil charging handle over what there is

flash hider sounds good

90 degree sounds good

Here is a good way to increase the weight on an SKS. Only 1,200, lol

I think I rather go for this

SKS- true hammer block safety. Im ok with stock trigger pull. cz858 style piston rod gas system. Easy detach rear ladder leaf sight to rail option for red dot. the rest i love.

Type 81- for our market id change it to a sks :) p.s. i dont own a type81
