IMI 5.56x45 62gr M855

This would just be for plinking and 3-gun practice. I've never run any match ammo before, I'm guessing that would be advisable for an actual match scenario? Or should I be practicing with the same stuff I would shoot a match with?

their 69gr SMK is better in 1:7 barrels. But it's 2 times more expensive.

Where can you get this ammo ??? I would like to try some! Actually would prefer the 77gr

I have the imi 62 gr m855 that I bought from ammo supply and it's great stuff. I like it better than the pmc xtac. Have to admit I have not tried for accuracy as I was using an eotech but clean and reliable

As for IMI green tip it works good on coyotes. As for match ammo or match bullets for that matter you have to be:
1) a good enough shot for it to matter.
2) shooting in a situation where it matters.
which pretty much means long distance competition and that you are capable of outshooting the rifle/ammo combo.

I have a cheap savage axis in 204 ruger. With my reloads I can put a touching 5 round group at a hundred yards. Off the self the group is about a .5 inch. It really depends on what you want(or need) to do.

Then again I owned that axis for 3 years before I bother sighting in the scope. It shot low and to the left when I bought so I aimed high and to the right. I only sighted it in when I did my first reloads. So take my advice as you will.

Only use Match ammo in a Match gun.... If you are using that gun for a match then why would you use a less accurate round to practice with ? practice makes perfect... only if you can improve on your weakest link so cut out the ammo part but using the same ammo as you would compete with and work on your trigger control, foot work reloading, sight picture, and the rest that comes with competition... My IUR with Norc bulk shoots almost 5in at 100yr vs FIOCCHI at .8.

I am a big believer in practicing with what you are going to use. I also have issues with people recommending match ammo for everything. Match ammo/bullets are held to a higher constancy. If however you haven't practiced your shooting the variation between the cheapest rounds will be less of a factor then the variation in your shots. It really depends on what you are doing and how serious you are in target shooting. In my opinion (that is all this is) building experience on cheaper rounds makes sense. If you can afford to make more shots with a bit of variations to work on the basics is better than fewer shots with better ammo were the ammo is almost irrelevant in the placement.

I do not know the OP and I don't know his/her experience. If your basics are solid match ammo could up your score. If your basics are lacking match ammo isn't going to make miracles happen.

The rifle can shot any ammo you like (true) but why spend the extre on a IUR and cheep out ?

LOL, didn't you run Norinco ammo through yours in that ammo test?

In a typical range outing I will shoot 200-300 rounds. Match ammo would get too expensive for me at that rate. If I was after that much precision I would have gone with a bolt gun. I just need something that will be reasonably accurate while still being affordable.

I shot this stuff this summer and got good results out to 300 yards I had few group Moa or below but really the average good is 1.5 ish. Good stuff and the brass is holding up in my reloads.

you really do not need match ammo for 3 gun
longest rifle shot ive done in 3 gun was 200 yards man sized target
of course every 3 gun comp is different, but ive never ever seen a 3 gun course ask you to do a 600 yard shot with an ar

Just to clarify.... I was doing a test to find out what ammo my rifle likes. Not what I believe to be the best. Every shooter should do the same test if they plan on hunting, competitive shooting or pure marksmanship skills

Remember the IUR is a sub MOA design(based on ammo and skill). It is more accurate then most bolt guns.

If you are burning up match ammo at 25m working on positional shooting or timed drills you are wasting money.
I have been unimpressed (as are the Brits who bring it) with the IMI I have shot. Everything chambered and went bang but the seating depth seemed to lack QC as the cannelure varied from out of the case neck to hidden and lots of tar seal mess.
