Looking at these two actions for a SA hunting rifle. Will most likely buy a 2nd bolt (standard and Mag bolt face) and give the switch barrel set up a go.

I think the Lone Peak is about 26oz and the Impact NBK is 30oz.

Any input on these 2 actions or how would they compare? Pros/Cons for each? What one would be better for harsh hunting conditions in Alberta?

I think both actions would serve you well for a hunting rifle. What is harsh Alberta hunting?
Lone peak has a multi flat bottom shape which is unique but still rem 700 compatible. Trigger mounts with pins like standard action.
Impact NBK has a trigger hanger. Not much else different between the two.

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago and looked at these actions as well. They both fell off the list quite quick due to their weight. My list was narrowed down to a Defiance Anti x or the Falkor LW7. I ended up with the new Falkor LW7 with removable bolt head in a 75 deg bolt lift (20.9 oz). These are currently in stock at GBT.

I didn't realize they have interchangeable bolt heads?

I had 2 lonepeaks, and recently bought an impact. (Non nbks or alpine) Main reason for the change for me was the lone peak multifacet bottom. It works in V block chassis etc. But once you go to a stock without mini chassis like foundation, you would have to order a dedicated stock, or get it bedded and loose the option to reliably use it with a round bottom action. + there are tons more impact inletted foundation stocks in canada floating around vs lonepeak.

When it comes to weight, just look at the hunting you'll be using it for. The only time I would consider going ultra light is a sheephunt. Anything else a 9lbs gun or even more isnt too bad. 30oz for a lonepeak alpine vs a 20oz defiance isn't that big. No3/5 profile barrel depending on cartridge, and scope/ scope rings can make up for those 10oz in action difference.

Falkor has changeable head, as well as one piece bolts. Its your choice. They now have the new 75 deg bolt throw as well which is a exchangeable bolt head. All of the bolts are backwards compatible with the 7even or LW7 models.
I like the 75 deg throw over a 90 deg throw as it gives you a little more clearance between the bolt handle and scope when cycling the action.

Are you limiting yourself to only those two?
No I am open to other options but these two fit my criteria best.
  • integral rail and recoil lug
  • 75* bolt throw
  • lighter weight under 30oz.
  • reliable
Defiance Anti X is another option but they are more money. Not really looking for swap-able bolt heads, I will buy a 2nd bolt if I want to explore more calibre options.

Anything you think I should look at that would fit my criteria?

Pure Precision SKLTN.

Good value.

The Ti version is only 16oz if I am not mistaken.

Doesn't everyone on your island hunt from the window of your pickup truck. Weight doesn't matter in that case.

Those days are coming to an end sadly enough. Way less deer out and about near roads compared to 10years ago.
I hike up the alpine with a 10lb gun and camping gear, don't feel like a 6lbs gun would make such a difference. That being said I am in fairly good shape since I run half marathons/ marathons etc
