I love it when those who know post proof of what the item is. It is useless to post "I think" or "it could be" or "possibly" . If you don't know for sure don't post incorrect information. My 3 cents.
The copper point bullet was acalled a "trick bullet" in the day and was not well regarded. The Sabre Tip was developed to replace it. I worked on testing the Sabre. It seemed to be reliable.
Not really sure when Sabre Tip started - for sure in the late 60's my Dad would get those for his 30-06 - he felt they did not munch up the tip, when chambering, as much as the exposed lead ones did in his m1917.
Thats what I thought. Sadly I only have about 50-60 of them and at 180gr they are a slightly weird weight compared to the boxes of 150gr soft points I also have.
