Has anybody heard of these AR-15's or M4's?

Any feedback on these?

They claim to be milspec but are they compatible with other AR parts?

How do these compare to other AR's on the market?

Do they have any history in any forces or services?

Thanks

Imperial Defence carbines

I own two Imperial Defence carbines, one is a semi 10.5'' AR15, the other a select fire 14.5'' M4. They appear to be mil-spec, at least they swap without problems with my Dlask and Sabre AR15 lower/uppers. PMAGs drop free. I have no complaints whatsoever - although the fit and finish are unspectacular, both rifles are as reliable as it gets. The barrels are heavy under the handguard; they are chromelined, and so are chambers and the bolt carrier groups. Selector on the semi is sorta funky, the safe position is just as you are used to, however, for semi auto fire you need
to switch to the position used for full auto in regular M16/M4s.
I installed the Enidine buffer on the select fire and one can really feel the difference.

As for parts compatibility, I have a 7'' Troy forend on the SBR and a 10'' LaRue on the M4; Ergo SureGrips on both; LMT stock on the M4, commercial Magpul CTR on the other one. Installation of either did not present any problems. The CTR rattles a bit so I suspect the buffer tube might be ever so slightly out of spec.

Haven't learned to post pics yet. I can send pics (cell phone) to anyone interested.

Could you send me pictures of the internals, the semi auto one, also the markings on the receiver would be nice, any markings on the barrel? under the handguard?

This is exactly how they looked when I bought them. Note the correct M4 handguard (rather than CAR handguard my Dlask came with) and the cylinder shaped delta ring.

McCoy
Will do. May take some time though.

Post the pictures actually,

Staking of the bolt carrier group, the front sight base pining and the front of the front site base will be awesome.

Also, I am curious what kind of finish it is used ont he barrel - it is very shinny- it is bluing??

what do you call retarded? the buffer or the selector?;)

actually it is the trigger group, or rather the shape of the camming (cuts on the rotating body of the full auto selector) that force the selector into the right-most position. Will be swapped for an ambi selector with standard cam anyway.

Barrel finish appears to be bluing

some pics

pics sent from gmail / check your inbox / in the meantime I learned some picture posting basics
sorry for the crappy pics the lightning here is poor and so is the cellphone lens

You can see that I swapped the uppers between the rifles to demonstrate interchangeability/fit. Now the SBR is the select fire weapon and the 14.5'' carbine is semi.

FOR THOSE WONDERING ABOUT THE LEGALITY OF SELECT FIRE CAPABILITY HEREOF:
ALL OF MY SELECT FIRE FIREARMS INCLUDING THIS RIFLE ARE HELD WITH ALL THE UNDERLYING GOVERNMENT PAPERWORK, LICENSES, PERMITS, CONSENTS AND AUTHORIZATIONS, INCLUDING AN "A" TYPE EXEMPTION GRANTED BY THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR VIA PRESIDIUM OF THE POLICE CORPS, REQUIRED FOR POSSESSION OF A PROHIBITED FIREARM.

Note the Schmidt & Bender SD scope mounted on the 14.5'' carbine in a LaRue SPR-S mount, accompanied by aTroy front and rear flip up BUIS, Miculek brake, OD Green Ergo SureGrip and Magpul CTR stock.

The 10.5'' SBR has morphed now into a close clone of a Mk18 (select fire, fixed front sight base, LMT SOPMOD stock). No KAC RAS was around so I had to make do with a TROY MRFC.

Optics on the SBR include tritium front sight post, GG&G MAD BUIS, Aimpoint T-1 in a LaRue 660 high mount along with a 3x Aimpoint magnifier, again, in a side-flipping LaRue Pivot mount.

ElGatoGordo, So both the 14.5 and the 10.5 have heavy barrel? could you post pics with handguard removed.

Barrel profiles

Yes, both rifles have a heavy barrel profile.

On the 10.5", the heavy profile goes all the way down from the chamber to the front sight base. I find this very useful for heat dissipation, especially if the firearm is subjected to heavy firing schedules with a select fire lower.

On the 14.5'' the profile is quite odd. There is a slight taper beyond the chamber area, and a sudden step-up approximately 2'' after that, with heavy barrel profile down to the FSB.

And no, I could not post pics, as in the sentence "I enjoy removing my Picatinny forends for purely academic purposes of arguing my case with fellow forumites; I also like to bang my head with bricks".:runaway:

Markings

The 5.56 caliber markings, the type designations MG4A6 and MG4A3, plus the MADE IN ENGLAND and IMPERIAL DEFENCE inscriptions, plus the selector position markings are very crude rollmarks. The dagger logo is actually a bas-relief.

location

Well..if you read the neverending Vz58 thread, it is actually the OTHER country where Palinak goes scouting for his red rifle spoils. Let's leave it at that, shall we?
;)

Are the prices for these in the same range as Bushmaster/Stag/Armalite?
Does anyone have a Form 6 to take theirs into the US?
Sorry if these have been answered already, I admit that I didn't search the entire form.

Sorry but any rifle barrel lengths less than 16" are not allowed into the US on the Form 6 NIA
