Imperial sizing wax

Does the kiwi polish foul up the dies?

I use the black stuff almost daily, and it can get messy.

I dont know if the clear stuff is less.... powdery when dry.

I thrown my dies in the tumbler once in a while to clean them and I am sure that would take care of any poish. But I am just curious.

Some one who has seen a soldier spit shining his parade boots might think he had snapped if he saw the same guy polishing his cases.

I'll have to try this out.

Hey Cat, thanks. P&d is my # 1 'gun goodie' shopping spot when I'm back that way. I've had the present container of Imperial Sizing Die Wax for a long time and the tin is still half full so I haven't really looked for more. Its nice to know where I can get though. I'll pick up some more on my next trip. Thanks again.

No sweat!:D On the topic of using "other stuff", I think that shoe polish has
alcohal in it, or somethinmg like that.
I know that warren page and others tried STP, my father messed with it also, but tended to stick with stuff on the market designed for a special purpose.
Never saw him polish his shoes with STP or Imperial sizing wax, come to think of it!:rolleyes:

There are a number of lubes that work well for simple re-sizing. If you are doing major re-forming then Imperial comes into it's own with only a couple of comparatives. For re-sizing Original Mink Oil (for shoes and boots) works well and as far as I can tell is identical to Hornady's "Unique" sizing lube. Some other products are quicker to apply and work as well for the purpose. A whole lot of things will do for re-sizing. Case re-forming is a different ball of wax and you are better off using the "good" stuff.
 
I bought a tube of RCBS case lube five years ago and have hardly dented the contents. May not live long enough to need to buy some Imperial lube. But if I do....

I tried some RCBS case lube however, while it worked fairly well it seemed stickier and a little more difficult than Imperial to remove.

That is being kind. I too in the dark years used the STP like goo in the tube, but found the only way to really get it off well was useing "brake cleaner"
Imperial wax is clean and very easy to get off.
In the really big cartridges is where I see a huge advantage. I have yet to have a 50 case get stuck.

As I recall, the older lee hand sizing kits came with a lube recipe which was parafin wax melted and mixed 50-50 with STP. I used to saturate a felt pad with it and then roll cases on it to lube--worked best if slightly warm--and seemed to work fine as a case lube.

Have read before about the shoe polish (Kiwi) but haven't tried it.
Yes if it works for you use it and at what a can is worth why wouldn't a person try it? Have to do that and see how it works.
I have been using the RCBS II water based stuff and like it.
