So, my Shadow is misbehaving at the range, spitting brass a good 7-10 feet directly at the 3 o'clock position; this means brass is falling *2* benches over away, which understandably is a pain for the other fellow shooters at the range. If it makes a difference, it's a CDN version with the recoil spring it came from the factory with (I think it's 11lbs?).

Can this be fixed my tuning the ejector? If so, how exactly? I'd imagine taking a (tiny) bit of material from the right side (at an angle) of the ejector face should move the ejection pattern more into the 4-5 position?

How many rounds through your recoil spring? They do weaken over time and the weaker they get the faster the slide comes back and the further they throw the empties. If the gun didn't use to throw the empties that far or at that angle and now it does my money is on a worn recoil spring.

Most sorry to hear your Shadow works perfectly :p

Unless you plan to shoot IPSC and tuning your gun to minor loads, don't change a damn thing and fire away like there is no tomorrow.

If you don't like shucking brass at fellow gunners, just hang some mosquito screen or net (from the roof ) and it will do the job. Or shoot wheel guns!

Some believe that a weak recoil spring induces early slide stop pin failure. And throwing the brass as far as yours is suggests it could take a stronger recoil spring.

I'll try a different spring, my ammo should me making ~133pf.

How can I know which one is which in the CDN ed package?

That might bring the ejection distance back a bit, but it'll still be at 3 o'clock, right? Do all CZs eject that way?

Spend a few dollars on a stronger recoil spring. The is set up for 125 PF.

Take Care

CZs eject like that.
Weaker recoil spring prolongs slide stop life.
If you need stronger recoil spring then I got a couple to spare.

I wouldn't think a 13# spring over the 11# would have that much of difference in slide stop life and still reduce the ejection distance. All my CZ's are rather aggressive though I have to admit. My new Sig just drops the bras about 3' from my feet. Awesome pistol.

My Beretta is like that, love it! I guess I got used to it...

Your extractor pressure and ejector shape will dictate how far your brass goes in concert with the recoil available. If you shoot lighter loads, the brass will stay closer. Increasing the spring pressure is not recommended unless you need to for timing or load issues. You could always tune the ejector and extractor, but there is nothing wrong with what you are describing.

I don't really know how far my CZ throws spent casings as most of our ranges have dividers. The problem with this is the hot brass bounce back all over me, I typically find some in my pockets, going down the shirt opening is quite normal. One of them got stuck on top of my safety glasses and caused a 2nd degree burn.

Ah the ol CZ devider bounce, one of my CZ's used to boucle off the divider and hit my neck every single shot! Toughens ya up :)
