I'm not sure which forum to put this in so I thought I would start here.
I, C-FBMI, did the shooting fraternity a big service last night (not ebola vaccine important) but a service for you all none the less. Now we've all heard how important recycling is, and how it helps save the planet and our environment, so I decided to take a heap of trash and turn it into gold, so to speak. I actually felt a small Mother Theresa twinge as I did this and thought to myself, Douglas you are doing a good thing here.
Every time my Rockchucker handle hit bottom and started back up a little cheering section inside me went frantic, I knew I was doing a good and necessary thing. Our environment is very important and everything we can do to help is important, so in doing this little project I swelled with pride, knowing it was the right thing to do. To be able to turn some toxic trash into something beautiful and practical and usable is no small feat nowadays. And with every stroke of the press I was doing just this, I felt positively angelical. It was almost like I was saving a bunch of small souls, taking them from delinquent, worthless, dregs of society to valuable, functional little soldiers. In fact it was probably one of the highest points of my life......
I know you are asking........."What did he do that was so important ?" So now I will tell you, and please don't bury me with praise e-mails and PMs, I did it for all of us, and I did have a minor personal agenda. I took 250 Winchester 270 brass and turned them into 25-06..............I know, I know, I'm not looking for praise or adulation, I just wanted y'all to know that I'm always thinking of you guys, and trying my best to help the shooting fraternity whenever I can. I slept well last night knowing, that in a small way, I had made the world a better place for all shooters and hunters.;);)
You are all very welcome.

Douglas

Very good Douglas. I along with countless reloaders have been doing that for generations, along with recycling tons of lead from wheel weights and such. I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I fire up the production pot or fire form some decent brass to make some usable loads.:)

Like most other things in life the"good"eventually outweighs the"bad".There will be far more"good"once fired .270 brass produced to outweigh all the "questionably charactered" once fired 25-06 brass produced. It will be an uphill battle c-fbmi !!

Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to chuck each case in a lathe and remove that foul identification?

No Boomer, I leave the headstamp to remind them of their vile, worthless previous life and just put them in a home (ammo box) with the new labeling to reassure them that they now are productive and useful assets to society.

Well VV.........in 6.5 I have 2-260s, 2-6.5X55s and a 264 WM...............can't really see a hole for the 6.5-06, but believe me I fully support and applaud anyone who turns the vile and useless 270 cases into 6.5-06, 25-06, 6mm-06, 280 or 30-06 they are all a huge improvement.

Just when I thought I was getting a handle on that Lookanese, you go and lose me again. Actually I get the Lookanese, it's the completely wrecked thought train that has me lost....................

You go ahead Douglas....resize all the brass you want. There will never be a halt in shiny new brass production for such a fine cartridge as the .270 WIN ;)

Oh, and BTW:
in 6.5 I have 2-260s, 2-6.5X55s and a 264 WM

Looks like a pile of rifles with the same bore there... just can't find one to do the job properly huh?:stirthepot2:

One day the lucky ones among you will stop beating around the bush and accept that what you are looking for has been right in front of you since 1925!

Cheers

And the Swedes' been doing the job as both a match & game number since 1894.

2 (two) once fired .270 brass from Hornady superformance SST factory loads (130 grain)

Each one wandered out of my tikka at 3200fps and took a mulie this year and dropped them in their tracks (one at 350 yd)

My ammo cost since spring: $3.92

Local pick up only thx. Do whatever you want with it
