THERE IS NO $ EXEMPTION ANYMORE.

COMPONENT PARTS (of which they determined a Magazine anyway) NEVER HAD AN EXEMPTION.

Mags are a minor component, where did you see the no $ exemption? This is from Dept. of State.
 
Brownells has shipped me mags as recently as last month.. I believe they are considered minor components... I mean look at the friggin customs docs they send with the package.. Yikes I wouldn't want to be in IT for them... the system must be a nightmare...

Not the best source but Numrich ships alot of stuff out of the US.
All Foreign orders where the parts total is over $100 requires an import permit. (Note: Canada has a $500 parts limit)

Then the consensus is ship away.... just keep the value of the package under $100 and the mag capacity not greater than 5......


Rgr.... this means that the S&H charges will be higher but that it can still be done just more smaller packages....

doesnt it all make sense.......

The document your are quoting was a 2003 publication... there have been some minor policy changes by State Department in the interim. Magazines (and parts thereof) are now "officially" considered by State Department to be excluded from the permit exemption. We have been told by State Department that we need permits for magazines and magazine parts (regardless of value). They have also told this to a number of manufacturers that we deal with as well so it's not just "us".

Brownell's "International Department" knows this, but often they have orders that "slip through". If you call them and talk to their international department they will clearly tell you that they can't ship magazines or magazine parts to Canada (any value) without a US State Department Export License... I have that in writing from Brownells as recent as a few months ago and I don't believe anything has changed since then.
