Importing a Beretta UGB25 sporting from US COMPLETE update first post.

I have dealt with Prophet river in the past for an import. While I suffered serious delays and issues with my transaction, Clay put it right by not charging me anything. I would and have recommended Prophet River for imports. However, this being a shotgun I thought I would try this out myself and save myself a hundred bucks. This thread is meant to show how easy it is or hard as things progress. So far it has been ridiculously easy, with about 5 minutes of my time and a fax machine.

As for the UGB-25 at Prophet River, if it was new and at $1999 and qualified for the 3 year Beretta warranty then it would be my preference to have bought from them and saved however it wasn't available at the time and there was no indication that new UGB-25 were entering the Canadian retail chain.

I never saw the appeal of the UBG. It seemed to be an exercise in making everything much more complicated for reasons totally unclear to me (other than fulfilling safety regulations in places that did not permit walking around with a "closed" shotgun).

Lower felt recoil comes to mind as one, lower mounted barrel which also helps on felt recoil and stability. Advantages of break action for loading on trap field and general visual safety. Bottom ejection which also helps on the trap field for doubles so spent shell doesn't hit next station over. Helpful in 5 stand were ejected hulls ricochet of stand back on to shooter.

Well the domestically sourced used Trap UGB25 turned up today. Very happy with it. Will take it out and shoot some trap tomorrow with any luck.

Still waiting on the Canadian FEDs to get the certificate of import.

Lol I hope you enjoy the UGB! I have won few 16 yards with that fellow but I just like to shoot ol 391 so much the ugb was not getting enough use.

OK time for an update.

Leroy just emailed me and informed me the gun is on its way express post. I haven't even paid him yet!!.
Now comes the tricky part, paying. I'll keep everyone informed on costs.

I imported a beretta shotgun this spring throgh prophet river. The duty then on an italian gun was 31/2 %. I think the $195 that prophet river charges to import a shotgun is a bargain. GREAT SERVICE.

OK, got my UGB25 today. I ended up just paying HST on the purchase price.
So started on October 19th complete December 10th. 50 days or so. 7 weeks. This is about the fastest it can get done.
Total Money
$2029 gun
$100 import
$130 express shipping
$260 HST
Total $2519

I would say this was about $50 more than going through prophet river but on the flip side it was possibly 2-3weeks faster.
