Why would a Tula cost more ?? inform me
There's a rumour that they are somehow better made. In the middle of a war I don't think they spent an inordinate amount of time selecting and fitting any rifles. Everything on the market is pretty much refurbed in any event, so even if they had so selected and crafted the rifles they'd be a mish mash of refurbed/renumbered parts.
Most 91/30 snipers found in the US now are put togethers anyways. Repro mounts and scopes on original sniper marked riflles and complete fakes as well. With no records to draw on one rifle is as good as the next vis-a-vis authenticity.
Of the Russian born milsurp shooters I know there seems to be a definite preference for Tula products. Tula was known as the "premier" arms factory of both the Imperial and Soviet states.
If they are original 91/30 snipers that's a different matter. Compared to an Izhevsk of similar originality your $100.00 is probably well spent. I would not expect it's quality to be any better by dint of being Tula alone.
I hope they still have some when Questar finishes processing the paper work. Anyway, the store is called RGUNS. When I phoned on Monday they still had a choice of tula or izzy so they had a least two. Every day I play to the milsrup gods hoping to avoid another "almost had it".

$800 for a 91/30 sniper isn't too bad at all. So, with costs of getting it up here, about $1,100 - $1,200 or so.
They state on the site that they are all original... But... From the picture they had up, the finish seems indicative of a refurb.

i want one!!! goddamit thats so cheap!!! too bad it costs an extra 300 to import it, still kinda worth it though if they are original...but I wonder about the bores. Dishing out this much cash and going through all the import hassles, it would be very crummy if the rifle came with a bad bore.

Registration told me to just put down what was on the rifles, then they took 2 years to figure out what Imperatorski Sestroryetski Oruzheiniya Zavod was! Good thing I wasn't able to afford that Imperial Peter the Great Tula Arms Factory one that turned up at SIR a few years ago. There are times in one's life when $69 is a LOT of money...... like when you just don't have it! ;-)

They are already defaced by US importer markings.
They are refurbished, but in my opinion, still nice pieces which will appreciate in value ....
Good buy with the dollar where it is right now ...
Markings for originality can be compared against "all correct" and original versions in the Knowledge Library.
The only thing I don't know for sure is if the new U.N. program that comes into effect here December 1st, will cause any of these imported to have to be stamped on the receiver by a Canadian importer as well. Anyone know this for sure? IMHO, that will affect collector value somewhat.

The value was sure impacted deeply in the US. Some stamps are deep and in very noticeable spots. Import free guns sell for a premium.
