Found some HXP Greek .303 surplus in New Zealand at a good price. Is there anything special required to import ammo from New Zealand?

Its not on the approved list of NRCAN so not possible. Many other reasons to long to list.

I do have a lot of .303 ammo but want to collect true surplus ammo for all my silsurps. I currently have Portuguese, Romania, and Yugo 8mm Mauser but no surplus .303, though I did find a local store selling 48 round boxes of HXP so I think I’ll buy a couple.

Make your own.

Find a buddy that loads. Buy s set of dies if he doesn't have any. Buy a box of bullets and a pound of powder and have at it.

I am always amazed by how many think there's some magic potion needed to reload.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned it to a fellow and he looked at me wide eyed and bewildered. I offered to work with him and he made a million excuses but finally just said he wouldn't trust any handload, commercial or otherwise. I just laughed and pointed out that the 9mm rounds he had purchased in bulk were handloads. He wasn't happy.

Ganderite is telling it straight. Handloading is cheaper in most cases than surplus and the ammo can be tailored to your personal firearm. The only thing you need to add, is your time.

I am willing to learn to reload never said I wouldn’t the discussion here isnt reloading versus not. It’s having some military ammo or not for collecting. Handloads don’t equate to military ammo.

Talked to the guy I bought HXP locally from today. He said he has been in the business for a long time and that most of the HXP in Canada was imported directly from Greece in the 90’s

If you really want surplus .303 you can sometimes find some at gun shows, but I think the Greek ammo is found in the US, maybe you could have it imported ?

I found a store locally that had 17 boxes of 48 Rounds of HXP bought 2 of them, would have bought the whole lot if I could have but they are a little pricey.

No idea, I could look into it. He won’t ship he said, too much of a headache I could possibly pick some up for people and ship it out. I will see if I can figure out what the cost would be.

Whereabouts are you located?

Its not on the approved list of NRCAN so not possible. Many other reasons to long to list.

Not really knowing a lot on this subject but, are we not allowed to bring in/import 5000 rounds for personal use and if so, does it all under the NRCAN rules?
The 500 rounds has been mentioned many times on this board so I am curious.

if i'm not mistaken, the importing is totally fine as far as Canada is concerned. However the US laws on exporting ammo make it so you cannot leave the country with any unless you've got the paperwork

It was in the late 80's or early 90's that Greek .303 ammo was available. I still have a few cloth bandoleers of it. The bandoleers were dark green while the Canadian was a tan color. The brass is good for reloading too.

Yeah I was excited to procure some from a local gun store. The guy who’s runs it said he most likely will never have it in ever again
