Need help.
How to bring an antique rifle made in 1873 from the USA to Canada?
Do i need any papers from seller?

A bill of sale, with a proper description of the firearm, should be all you need. I've had two antique rifles mailed to me, an 1884 trapdoor, and a Danish Rolling Block, and both came through easily. Both sent by USPS.

Keep in mind that the USPostal Service is the way to go. Do not have it sent by courier or it will get caught in brokerage (a license to steal) and then the Canada Customs. USPS is also much cheaper. Dave

Thank you all.
I will definitely advise the seller to do this.
Is there any calibre restrictions? The gun i'm trying to bring is Berdan 2 m1870 cal. 10.67x58 (around .42) made in 1973. (yes, very rear :)

1873?
There should be no problems with export/import.
If you post the manufacturer, the FRT # could be had.

yes, 1873... my mistake.
It's made in Ijevsk, Russia.
What's the FRT#?

Firearms Reference Table is the official RCMP identification catalogue of firearms.
Every firearm is given a number. The FRT reference for yours confirms its antique status. This can be useful. A print out of the FRT description could be included with the paperwork by the seller.

I printed off the relevant page from the Firearms Reference Table for a friend of mine who was importing an antique. I think it proved most useful as it negates any argument about status etc. A print will show the Legal Classification and Legal Authority for said weapon.

If your Izhevsk made Rifle is not the Cavalry Carbine, Cossack Rifle or Dragoon and has a 825mm barrel i already have the FRT # found for that rifle. The page also shows the Antique status and legal authority etc.

It will only take a local verifier a few moments to find what you need and get a print for you.

Just give everyone concerned a copy of that and it should assist you.

Good Luck.
