Is there any way to import brass or bullets to Canada from the US?

Can small quantities be sent as gifts or is this considered circumventing export laws.

I am looking for brass for an antique and possibly bullets as well, I was told I can order reloading dies but cannot get brass or bullets.

I can make my own brass but then I essentially have to build a custom lathe for the bench.

Thanks

the one question i can answer for sure is regardless of quantity paper is required for brass, powder, bullets and primers.

44 Webley and 44 Bulldog

Jethunter has bullets for 44 Webley, but looking to make the bulldog version too.

I know you can make your own from other 44 brass, but then I am machining them, just trying to find someone who makes the stuff and ships to Canada.

You cannot bring in ANY brass or bullets without a cdn import permit and a us export permit.
the cdn import permit is free, the us one is not free and makes small orders not worth it

i just spent $130 for my share of a An export permit for 3000 Berger bullets

The cheapest way to do this is to phone the company in the states and see if they have a dealer in Canada or search the Internet just type in the brand of brass that you are interested in and see if it can be purchased in Canada. Anything else is a real hassle. Some of the 800 numbers going into the States will automatically shut off if the call comes from Canada. Also check "Access to Firearms" if you are subscribed to this publication.

it is possible through the ground borders. i drove last summer to Great Falls, Montana. while i was there, i went to Schields and bought a bag of 30-06 brass and a box of Hornady bullets. I declared them on the Canadian borders and they seemed not to care. It would be a problem if you possess them on the American soil though.

Any hand-carrying of reloading components (brass, projectiles, powder and primers) is a violation of US Export laws. Violations can result in prison time, fines and being barred
from subsequent entry into the US for years or forever, depending on the severity of the violation.

Sticky on the topic:

There are a couple of CGN merchants who provide legal US export/Canadian import services - for a fee.

Dvor would not ship a RCBS priming tool . . . apparently priming is synonymous to "primer".
But they would ship a RCBS supreme kit with that same priming tool therein!
But Sinclair would ship the same priming tool without a hitch and the price was the same with cheaper shipping.

You would have had a major problem had you been stopped by Homeland Security before reaching the US border.
Please review CGN rules respecting discussion of illegal activity.

One should be careful about taking some advice such as this. This has been covered I don't know how many times and people still give this advice. Get caught on the US side prior to reaching the Cdn Border by US Authorities and you are screwed. I am sure when you say someone on Gunnutz said it s possible at ground borders they will let you go without hesitation.
