Importing collector ammo from US ????????????

No exporting ammo(It's not an importing issue.) without the U.S. State Dept. permit. Don't believe collector stuff gets an exception either. Contact the cartridge collector guys and ask.

You need friends who travel.
You have friends willing to go to jail for you?
Chances are low the US State Department would prosecute if they were caught but they could be banned from entering the US again for decades or the rest of their lives. Not worth the risk.

We need dual citizenship the it wouldn't be a problem
It wouldn't make a difference unless you kept them at an address in the US. US citizens aren't allowed to export ammo without permits any more than Canadians are.

Who said my friends don't do it legally???
I assumed you were jokingly referring to smuggling since you don't need to travel to export ammo. You can submit the paperwork online and have the exporter on the other end do the same. Once it's all in the clear (and you've waited months for processing and probably paid hundreds or thousands of dollars) they can just mail it to you with the right forms attached.

Isn't there a personal exemption for Canadians taking back up to 5000 rnds for personal use and the only problem is the possession of the ammo by a canadian on the U.S side?

That personal exemption is for importation into Canada; the issue is export from the US. Ammunition is controlled under ITAR and cannot be exported in any way without the proper forms. Many exporters will charge quite a bit per order to fill out the forms for you. They need to pay hefty fees to maintain export licenses themselves so it's not just a cash grab.

An "ATF Form 6" has nothing to do with exporting ammo. An "ATF Form 6" is about importing firearms and the ammo to go with 'em to the U.S. You cannot bring more out than you took in on an "ATF Form 6".

Seems like the OP's big problem is that he wants to ship the ammo. Personal travel, carrying ammo both ways over the boarder, is apparently not a difficult legal issue. Shooters and cartridge collectors have been doing it for years.

So they can get in trouble illegally taking the ammunition out of the USA for you?

You really need to read up on exporting ammunition out of the USA, because you obviously don't understand the USA regulations.

Sorry, my Northern friend, but with the right ATF forms, there is no problem carrying small amounts of personal ammo in or out of the US............citizen or not. In this particular case, Canada is the problem. A larger stock of shooting ammo is a completely different story.

If you are talking about a form 6, that allows you to bring ammunition in or out of the USA on a temporary basis for hunting, a target shoot, etc.. All ammunition that you don't use must be taken back with you, when you return to your home country. As well, you can't take anything with you, or any amounts greater than those listed on the form 6. To permanently export ammunition or components out of the USA, a form 6 is not adequate, you must obtain the proper export licenses and permits.

Tell Homeland Security that it's no big deal when they catch you at one of their check stops, on your way to the Canadian border with ammunition, and you aren't going hunting or to compete at a shoot.
