Hey guys

I’m in need of some info/ advice.

Looking for anyone (dealer or CGNers) with experience exporting firearms out of Canada and importing firearms into Australia.

Thanks
Ben

Have you checked with the High Commission in Ottawa or their website? May depend on if you are moving there or just visiting for the requiremts/ hoops to jump through!

https://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/weaponsLicensing/acquiringWeapons/importation.htm

Try this link for a start as it has links to the Federal police as well. Each state seems to have control over firearms in their state and you may need a permit from state to state.

Based on what I’ve read about Australian firearms laws, I suggest you start reviewing the product offerings from Nerf and Supersoaker...

Moving there in two weeks. Not looking to import them immediately, but once I’m licensed and legally setup to possess firearms....so in about a year.

Good luck!! My buddy moved down under about 10 years ago, I am still holding his bolt action rifles and semi auto hand gun. The handgun is a no brainer, but the rifles should not have been a problem. It took him about 5 years just to get an Aus firearms license. This guy is a 100% upstanding multi millionaire who owns a fairly large corporation in Aus.
They have some real issues when it comes to guns.
Wish you well with it.

That about summs it up unfortunately. Unless ofcourse 1 has criminal intentions and connections, then there is no peroblem getting a real gun.

I had a friend here who was into air pistol (non-PAL) shooting. On deciding to move to Australia he looked into things and decided he was best off finding a new hobby.

The reason why I’m asking is to hear from someone’s personal experience through the process. I’ve done my background research and am looking for a Canadian exporter to work with my Australian import company.

My original post is changed and directed to people with EXPERIENCE importing firearms into Australia.

If you're leaving in a couple of weeks it's getting a tad late. I haven't experience with Australia but as another has noted, you'd be better to go to NZ to do your shooting sports. I'm sure there's hunting and all down there but.
If you had the pre-arrangements all done it would have been better to have the firearms export(CAN) and import (AUS) docs all sorted out by now and take the toys as "unaccompanied baggage".

That's how I returned my toys from New Zealand last time I came back - it was in the cargo hold of the plane I flew in on. Cleared customs the next day and I had my toys. The previous times (shipping separately to NZ and back from Canada) took anything between 8 months and about 14 months.
