Please be careful when ordering from the US that the air rifle is not over 500 fps. I know of someone, over 21 yrs old, who recently ordered an air pistol, and who had to go "sign" for the package. Two cops were waiting in the Canada Post truck, and arrested him. He is awaiting bail. I surmise that the reason being it was considered a firearm (>500 fps) but i don't know all the facts. I would even suggest NOT even ordering any thing from the US, and buying properly imported air pistols from a local Canadian website.

If it shot in between 430fps - 500fps it would be an unrestricted firearm similar to all other pellet guns that are currently available and some airsoft guns.

If it fired under 430fps chances are they classified it as a replica firearm i.e. prohibited device

That's pretty lame that they arrested him for that.

Air RIFLES under 500fps would come over fine. Over 500fps and it's a non restricted firearm. If it was an air pistol your friend got as you say, and it shoots over 500fps, it's restricted, requires an rpal. I think there's something about a license for importing firearms involved too probably ?

EDITED FOR MY MISREAD> Must be due to the pistol fact and he must not have pre-registered it with the CFC. Did he have an RPAL?

I brought back a Stoeger X-50 (1200-1500fps) 2 weeks ago. Bought it down south (nothing required, in the US it's not a firearm) registered it with the CFC pre-crossing and declared it with the guards..showed my PAL and my Reg. Cert....paid my duty (non needed, I was under my limit) and carried on home.

(I covered my US bases too...for those who will chime in on that note...the guards I asked on the way down didn't see a problem, as it was not a firearm, and I crossed at the same location to ensure the knowledge was consistent)
