This may be the wrong place, but???
Is buying lead shot in the USA a no-no for Canadians??
I know primers, powder, etc is not allowed for non-residents, but have heard that shot is OK.
Anyone know?
By experience?

Why would you want or have to. Nothing you cannot get in canada. Plus a bag of no.9 shot is like 50 bucks US there and 55 CD here

A few years back I was able to order brass shotgun hulls from the US. As I understand it, iirc, shotgun components were controlled by the US Commerce Dept, not the State Dept, and so ITAR didn’t apply and they could be exported.

Years ago I bought all of my reloading components except powder and primers state side including hulls direct from remington but times have changed. Now they won't even ship plastic wads
Cheers

I guess some of us are spoiled. Living near Caledonia, Lawerys or Ancaster, Hummsons.

That goes for targets wads components loaders ammo and the list goes on and on . I am 36KM away and both outfits are great to deal with and always fair with the price . They are the reason we have some many good active clubs in the region. Yes we are very spoiled .

Or you buy it by the pallet like we have for years :) and get a bud with a big rig to swing by and pick it up and still get it for what you pay :) Only problem with that is even after the split one has to sit on 100 bags

Lead shot that’s sold as a reloading component is subject to export restrictions.

That same lead shot sold as ballast weight or radiation shielding can be freely exported.

Just something to consider…

?? The stuff we use for the boats for ballast is soft, not uniform size and 9 times out of 10 reclaimed from what ever and not close to what I reload with. If one was rich I guess you could buy reloading shot but more than likely labeled as such and not allowed to be exported even for ballast
Cheers

Why is there not a huge Ballistic Product's (Canada) firm in Ontario?

There is a guy in Alberta that sells their product basically out of a barn.

I have asked BP management why nobody in Canada has approached their firm for large sale distribution nation wide.

Their reply was they are always open to discussion.

There is obviously more to this story.
