importing optics from the U.S.

I was thinking of buying a red dot out of the states. Is it gonna make it across the border or is there some law preventing me from getting one from the U.S.?
 
I wonder how many Canadians buy scopes off the Ebay.ca website thinking it's OK? The site gives you the cost in Canadian dollars and the American company selling them says they'll ship internationally…..unless I'm out to lunch and misread it.

A Canadian buying off Ebay.ca and having it shipped to Canada, regardless of place of origin, is not foul of the law, as he/she is not the shipper, or physically attempting to leave the US with it. CBSA could care less about an optic, once it is in Canada. The seller is the one who would be liable, if they do not have an export permit. This is why 99.99% of them won't ship to Canada.
 
Check with Prophet River. I bought a scope out of the US thru them, and landed it at my door for 40% less than the cost here. Just like so many other products the distributors, gouge Canadians, not the retailer. It is the distribution machine, that is cleaning up on us, profit wise. Not the regulations. Dealers here sell many US made gun related products, as well as from all over the world, and the unit cost to ship and clear the regulations is less than minimal for them. Don't drink the regulation Kool aid, as the reason for us paying thru the nose. It is deliberate and well planned for nothing but extra profit, out of Canadian pockets. I have bought Binos, cars, quads, a scope, auto parts, and many other items from the US,with all the same results, a savings to me of between 30 and 50%, landed at my door. I just bought a set of shocks for my Duramax, and again much less than even the lowest Canadian online seller, and that includes converting to Canadian dollars, and my shipping etc. I prefer to support local retailers, but until their suppliers quit gouging us thru the retailers I will buy elsewhere whenever possible. I prefer my hard earned money in my Bank rather than the distributors bank. The only way to change this is for large numbers of Canadians doing the same.

I am sure you can get that red dot across, just do some checking. If they sell them here and they aren't banned for some reason, you can get it.
