Hey all. Has anyone ever ordered grips online from the US? For example just 1911 replacement custom grips. Just wondering if this is something that wouldn’t be allowed by customs or would cause any problems without contacting CFO or needing special forms or something. And I mean just grips , not the frame or anything. Any input is welcome !

I've ordered many grips from the US without problem - Hogue, VZ, Eagle, Brownells, Numrich, Gunbroker, Lok, Armory Craft... You shouldn't have a problem through customs. Many of the US site, however, have changed shipping policies and simply won't ship anything to Canada anymore.

Thanks gdawg. They will ship to Canada I just wanted to see if people had any issues in the past. From what Ive researched it seems it should be ok but if it will be a hassle I won't bother.

I have ordered 2 sets of revolver grips this year, both direct from Hogue.

The tracking is spot on from USPS and it even shows you where it is in Canada.

No issues with lots of product in stock, no border delays - just great grips that arrived fast.

2nd on the Hogue. worked great

I was very impressed with my transactions with VZ for revolver grips on 2 separate occasions in the last 6 months.Shipping times were less than a week to my door after my orders were placed. No issues with LOK grips as well.I've also received a number of shipments from Brownells over the years and have usually avoided duty charges by keeping my orders under US$100.However,my last order consisted of 2 sets of Hogue rubber handgun grips and a hard rubber pitch spacer and had to pay duty charges on about US$75.

No big deal, but just an example of my experience in ordering from the U.S.

Thanks Denis. So in a nutshell if the vendor is willing to ship it I should most likely be ok??

Maybe. The manufacturer must be registered, the exporter must be licensed, and the export must be either permitted (via a permit) or declared (via an on-line declaration, by the licensed exporter. (And when I say 'licensed exporter', I don't mean you, I mean a U.S.-based entity licensed by the United States as a 'licensed exporter'.) So... maybe.

Ordered replacement grips for my antique Webley and they arrived last week. They were opened by CBSA and if they hadn’t put tape on the box, I never would have known they were inspected. No holdup on the shipping either so that was a surprise especially this time of year.
