importing scopes from the USA for dummies

Order....pay....receive...mount....dial....shoot......what are you waiting for? I never had a problem brining in any optics out of the USA in my entire life......and why would I go thru a company and pay a 50$ import fee per item? Alot of places will ship directly to canada with no issues IT'S JUST A SCOPE!

To optics planet?? When I tried with them, to have it shipped to a Montana address, they flagged my CC and refused the sale of the scope. They sent me messages like I was an international criminal for daring to try.

I'm not talking about trying to sneak it by them as shipping to me with my Canadian card in Montana. I was thinking of being up front and telling them what I was planning to do and letting them decide if they will do that or not. I don't see why they wouldn't since from their end they would be shipping to someone who will do the paperwork. I'm sure they won't make it that easy but I was just looking to see if anybody had any experience with this and them. They've got a nice price for the Sightron I'm

then why when i order optics from big box stores in the USA and they have no problem accepting my order at their BC location? it takes a month or 2 but well worth the wait even with exchange.....so how is it breaking the law when websites in america clearly state they WILL SHIP INTERNATIONALLY ? I actually call them to confirm and they state there has never been a problem shipping to canada and these stores have been is the business since the internet was invented! invoice clearly states and before check out that import fees for international orders will apply...these companies deal with all that sort of thing at their end all the time

most retailers in the states are not willing to do the paperwork for you, obviously the retailers that your ordering from are

Big Box Stores shipping SCOPES to Canada with no issue.... I think NOT. It's ILLEGAL. Read this (a Big Box Store - Cabelas).... http://www.wttlonline.com/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/34026

I have ordered from scopelist dot com and they were extremely helpful in terms of the required paperwork to export from USA for delivery to Canada. Was a fantastic deal and smooth transaction.

Here is an email I received from optics planet in response to asking if I could do this.

"Greetings from OpticsPlanet

Thank you for contacting us! You can place the order online and list the FFL address for shipping, however, you will need to list in the “Comments and Notes” section of the order that the item is being exported to your country. We will have to make sure the order can be shipped to you with the intentions of export.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know."

So I guess they are willing to do it. Now I just have to find out if the scope can be shipped and try to talk myself into spending the money.

I had to do the dance of the 7 vails (Import cert from Canada plus official forms ) to satisfy the U.S. Commerce dept & Brownells to purchase a Weaver scope recently..

I never knew it was illegal to bring scopes across the border.. i have brought a couple back and duty had nothing to say about it.

Canadian Customs at the border have no issue with it, neither do the US Customs guys - it's the US State Department that could make life really, really awkward for you if you're caught. And they set up checks at border posts from time to time.

Usually via thier own Homeland Security employees.

Knew a dual citizen (Canadian-American) whom was well within the law working at Anahiem, California (Disneyland) as a singer.

She was once stopped early Post-911 at the border and they (HS) stopped her. They did not believe she was working there part of the year. She lost that job.

That's my understanding as well even the U.S. sellers need paper to protect them from the State dept.

I've heard of them doing it just south of north portal, especially during hunting season.

In 50+ runs through regway on way to Plentywood I've not ever seen a check on the US side.
