Just tried out my new 590AI, and they really hit the mark with this model. It's the 6 shot, with 3 dot rifle sights, and speed feed. I've owned a couple of "tactical" shotguns for bush carry, but this is the first that seems to be designed from the ground up, for self-defense. I opted for the six shot because it's such a nice size for lugging through thick bush. The 3 dot sights work much better for my eyes than ghost rings. The 4 shell speed feed is easier to use than I expected, and the top tang safety has a really positive feel. This thing is a winner.

I love my 590a1 as well. I got the 8 + 1 model and she's a beast! I am however trying to trade it from a tacticool 870. The gf finds it a little heavy to weild

:needPics:

like to see the three dot sight setup.:D

You gotta love the 590A1! Heavy duty is an understatement. Here's my 590A1 SPX that I bought this past Easter when I made the mistake of skipping out for an hour after dinner at the inlaws to take a little trip to Target Sports. I left with the 590, an SKS and a crate of ammo. :bangHead:

your kind of in to the Bayonet thing too,eh.:p

Which bayonet goes on the A1?

My SPX came with all the following...

Mossberg 590A1 SPX includes the following features-

-20 inch heavy barrel
-Steel trigger group & safety
-LPA Ghost ring Sights
-Rear Picatinny receiver rail (LPA Rear mounts on rail)
-MIL-Spec parkerized finish
-Synthetic stock & for-end
-Bayonet mount
-M9 Bayonet
-Ported Barrel

I just field stripped my 590A1 last night. Not too bad. Pretty easy. I just had a tough time pulling my trigger group out. All the videos I watched it came out easily. Mine required *a lot* of pulling. Went back together just fine and function test was good.

i just bought this shotgun (590A1 SPX) and misplaced the booklet in a pile of papers of mine. This has a 3" chamber correct and no choke correct?

BTW the fiber optic front sight that comes with the 590A1 SPX is awesome. I thought I wouldn't see much difference as my 870 has a bead front sight and I am very accurate with it. Was thinking it was more of a gimmick but the Mossy blows away my 870 accuracy wise. I am sure the front sight has something to do with it.

I just took my 590A1 out for the first time today and all I can say is WOW!!!

This shotgun operates exceptionally smooth. This is my first shotgun and I was surprised at how fast I could cycle the gun in rapid fire and still hit my mark. It just came natural and I think the gun had a large part to do with it.

I have the Mossberg ghost ring sights on mine and I can't get over at how fast and easily you can pick up your sight picture especially on follow up shots.

All in all this shotgun is amazing; very satisfied. I got so much for my money compared to a 870, great value! :nest:

I never liked my 870 Tactical, just not my type. My 590A1 however is freaking awesome. The sights are great but the most important thing to me is there's no loading gate that you need to depress everytime you want to load a shell. When you speed reload, it's much easier and faster.

a slight de-rail .. i just picked up a mossberg 930 SPX ( im in NZ .. so its the 7+1 ) with the LPA ghost rings .. im happy to hear that they are easy to use..

the standard ghostys that were on my norinco.. while not bad.. werent too good either.
sounds like the LPA are much better ( and rightfully so )

please correct me if im wrong, but i can shoot slugs in this gun correct? i was under the impression that with a cylinder bore i was able to.

You can shoot foster slugs and that, but not Sabot slugs. They are designed to be shot out of a rifled barrel. The 590 is a smooth bore so it just wouldn't create desirable results
