We were throwing away a couple old surveyors tripods at my work, so I grabbed one to make a shooting tripod from........
Don't have the $$$$$$ for a Hog Saddle right now, so I made up a wooden box to hold my larger JSA Tactical shooting bag.

While the rifle won't be held as steady as with the Hog Saddle, this set up worked quite well and was rock solid.
The first shot I fired was a "kill" shot at a 100m 1/3 scale double hostage target....... :)

With a full sized "perp" target for scale........

Without having the rifle clamped in, it takes patience and control to hold a steady sight picture, but I was able to hold all my shots inside the scoring ring of a 1/3 scale Huns Head target at 100 meters..........just need to practice more with this set up to be more proficient!! ;)

I would just like to know who the dude is you are shooting at ? He looks like a Greek Fisherman. LOL

He wasn't on the target list today........just used for size comparison..... ;)

That was a photocopy of a match target we used one year at our Provincial Sniper Championships.....as it was called back then......

That works! Good on ya for scoring that for real cheap! Love it when you can get good gear for next to nothing. I too am wanting a Hog Saddle, but I just got my rifle put together and I need to save some coin for a while to keep the missus happy.

You know, I find it more satisfying to be able to fabricate stuff rather then buying it........ ;)

but that Hog saddle does look pretty damn good..........

My PIG saddle should be here Monday... Should be a similar setup but maybe a bit more secure and adjustable. Nice work with what you had though... Definitely better than shooting sticks!!!

I recognize the old Leica tripod you used! We have those at work as well - may have to give this a try the next time we get new ones in.

He he, I built my own as well kinda... I grabbed a Manfrotto tripod for 150 ish and then the following a 5$ bracket from princess auto and got my dads buddy to drill and tap the threads for the tripod and then shooting kneeling I put one of you bags on my knee to steady the butt of the rifle and went from there. Works pretty damn rock solid to.

Does that skid pad have velcro on the inside so that it can be used without the laces?

Our current version has no velcro inside..........It is something I can look into for the next run.......just would have to source out adhesive backed velcro in appropriate colors........
