So while mooching around at Cabela's today, I found a Vortex Crossfire Scout scope in the Bargain Barn [or whatever they call it] $50 off the regular price. I've been wanting a scout LER scope to mount on my M-305 and this seemed to fit the bill. It _appears_ to be in like-new, unused condition...my surmise is that it got returned by someone who didn't know what a 'scout scope' meant. If it's a lemon, I guess I get to experience the Vortex warranty process.

Did I do good? Next I have to figure out what scope mount I want...I'm thinking a Nikon one-piece. Any suggestions?

Not sure about the Nikon one piece. I tend to use as low of rings as I can on a scout scope, and get it down as close as possible to the barrel. The other question is; What mount are you using? I've got one on my M-305 and I had to shim the mount to get some elevation adjustment in the scope. Ran out of down, and I was still a foot above the target.

I have an m14.ca SHG for a mount...what's yours? I'll be looking over my options, but I really like the simplicity of the one-piece.

That's what I'm running as well. I'm not sure it's possible to precision machine this part perfectly given the possible slight differences in different production runs, at different times, by different manufacturers of the M-14 pattern rifles. Don't get me wrong, Frank and the the crew at M14.ca make quality stuff, and I will continue to support and buy from him. You just may have to do a couple tweaks.

I had one mounted on my m14 with the same m14.ca mount. I have the lowest rings possible and still need a cheek riser so not sure if the one piece you are talking about is the AR base then probably a no as it will put the scope up much higher then needed.

I don't like the scope itself. It's decent but it's a low end scope. I would rather buy a used leupold if I needed to buy another. I mounted the vortex to my mares leg instead. Fun little gun.
