There's something about M1's that no other rifle has. I think it's the balance. Think 150 to 180 grain bullets with IMR or H 4895, IMR4064 or Varget with regular large rifle primers. 165 grain hunting bullets if you opt to lug it hunting. Same powders.

I bought mine at least 17 years ago at the gun show in Montreal for $450.
The rifle was in mint condition, but I think I paid too much then, because the going price then was $300-300 for a good one.
I regret having sold it 5 years ago for $1200.
On the positive side however, it was a great investment (close to 170% increase in 17 years ).
