Imr 4064

I have only used H4895 Powder for my 270 Winchester and it seemed to work quite well with the powder burning nicely, wondering if anyone has reloaded with IMR 4064 and what the results were. I have heard a few people say that they didn't find the powder burned well and left behind more residue.

Depends on your load. I load pretty much every full power ww2 cartridge with 4064 as well as some modern rounds with good results. I haven’t noticed excess fouling or unburnt powder but I also shoot a lot of surplus so maybe I have low standards….

Imr 4064 is very versatile. It leaves more black/carbon in the bore compared to the H series of powders but it doesn’t affect performance whatsoever.

No I haven’t found that. Just that when you clean, it’s black rather then grey

Shot a lot of 270 over the years, 4831 and/or 4350 perform very well, better than 4895 or 4064. Just my experience.

I use 4350 or 4831 for both 270 and 30-06. Works good for me.

If you are considering a change, 4350 or 4831 would be better choices. 250 fps more velocity with a fuller case. RL22 is also excellent.

I have loaded 270 Wins with 49.5 IMR4064 CCI200 primers and a 130 Gr Bullet . Gives about 3000 fps and is Accurate . Start at 47 grs and work up . RJ

I have a bunch of the discontinued Hornady .270 110 HP bullets and have a very accurate load with 4064. For 130/140 grain bullets I have had better luck with a slower burning powders

It is my absolute favorite 243 powder. Also loaded some 22-250 and 30-06 and it's also fantastic.

I've had good luck with 7828 for 130 and 150 grain bullets in the 270 Winchester.

I have loaded IMR4064 pushing a 130 grain Accutip and the results were a super tight group and no dirtier than my other loads. A great powder Imho.

You might do better with a slower powder for 130/140. Imr 4350 vs 4064 etc....But the 4064 will be just fine for those too. Depends alot on your rifle.

IMR 4064 won't set any speed records in the 270, but it's suitable. Relatively low load density, compared to the slower burning powders on the market. If that's all you have, it'll work

oh, certainly could be. I haven't had to shoot at that temp yet. Its definitely a consideration if you may
