Anyone playing around with this new IMR powder? I just bought a keg of it on the weekend and I'm just getting ready to load some of this for my 22/250. I'll try to re post after I have played with it let everyone know how it is.

For those who care I got a chance to play with IMR 4166 in one of my 22/250's today. Needles to say I am overly impressed and think it is defiantly a VARGET replacement in this particular caliber. Was very easy to work up loads with it. Statting loads weren't anything great but higher I went the better they got. Accuracy nodes up to the higher charges were very good. They opened up more than VARGET I found but they closed tighter. The load I think I will settle on once I re test had a 12 fps variance string.I'm 20 fps slower than VARGET but I have a little tighter group. I Might bump up the load .2gr And see if closes any more. .359" at 100 yards is what it measures out to be now so might be tuff to try and chase that 20fps for and keep accuracy.

Check this out, I was shocked when i saw the results. Found an old sierra manual and saw a load for 50gr BK's and RL-15 so I tried it. Tightest group I have shot with that gun. 5 shots equals tiny group at 150 metres. Looks like a new pet load for me, now what to do with all this H380 I have lying around…...

Its good to know about that powder since all my loads for the 22-250 are currently on IMR4007SSC which is by far the tightest groups i have ever received from any 22-250 with better velocity then any Varget load i tried.. Now they quit making IMR4007SSC from what i understand.. so maybe this could be its replacement??? hummm..

Thanks for the info!!!
Josh

55gr Sierra SBT #1365 here but if you are a hide saver then there may be better choices out there, you will get exits with the #1365...if you are looking for no exits try the Sierra 55gr SPT #1360

out of my CZ 550 Lux i have tried and shot coyotes with 40gr v max(Work great for hides) 50gr V-max and 55gr Sierra Blitz Kings. All have shot and worked awesome on coyotes. Very little pelt damage to none at all.
