IMR 4350 in 7.62x54r w/ 174 gr, what manual?

Really?? Try looking at post number 6.

Well rookie, your post that I quoted was not informative nor did it contain any useful information pertaining to the subject. You contributed to the flow of useless information in just the same manner as the guy you were criticizing. Soooo... Yes! Really!! ;)

Well I made some up for the range tommorow, 49gr, 49.5, 50, 50.5, 51, 51.5gr. Case is not full yet but damn close. COAL 3.000", looking good, now lets see how they shoot.

When the Finnlanders put .308 barrels on ,they claim the better accucracy than the 7.62Nato.

I kind of argree with you, never had a finn but have heard good things. I think it's the rifle and the shooter limiting the accuracy with the round. I think the round itself is very nice and accurate.

I'm kind of growing more fond of it everytime I make a few.

Well, got out to the range today. As it turns out in my rifle 52 and 52.5gr of IMR 4350 with the Hornady .312 174gr BTHP works like a charm.

100 yards, iron sights, on a front rest with my shoulder in the back grouped around 2-2.5"
Best I've got out of this old nagant so far.

Thanks for the report R500.

I have a Finn M39 (slugged a .312 bore) that I'm looking to load for it...

...if I ever get my brass...wow...

Cheers!

As for brass, all I've done is buy 20 round boxed of PRVI, shoot em and use the brass. Seems to be pretty good, haven't had any brass fail on me and some are up to 10 loads now. Only started neck sizing the last 2 loads, just cheaped out on my FL dies and sized the neck.

I'm going to load 52 gr, then up to 52.5 in .1 increments just for a laugh so next time I go out I'll post up that info, maybe a pic if it worth showing!

Probably should have just done that in the first place. I 'scored' some cheap x54R brass here before...

...however after examining all the brass, every single casing showed signs of imminent case head separation...

...that would explain the low $$. Caveat Emptor...right? f:P:2:

You just never know...! That ~2 MOA could magically become sub!
