Imr 4831?

Anyone using IMR 4831 behind .270 160grain Noslers?
Dont seem to hear much about it...

160gr too heavy?

For whatever its worth I use IMR 4831 behind 150 gr. swift sciroccos for my .280 rem. with great success

I happen to have some on the shelf.
I would think it would penetrate the hell out of a moose, bear, what have you... stay within a couple hundred yards.

Reloaded some for a friend a number of years ago and probably used the Nosler book for accuracy load.
Nosler Currently lists Starting at 48.0 grains with a max of 52.0 grains (and giving the best accuracy for that powder), and giving a velocity of 2820.
They used Re19 for their best accuracy load with a velocity of 2750.
The IMR4831 would be my choice given the added velocity.

Normally, yes, the 160 grain is heavy for caliber. It can shoot it but not at its best !

I have used 160 gr Nosler Partitions in my .270 Ruger No. 1. Not the best accuracy but it sure does penetrate.
