So, I have finally run out of n570 for my 300 win mag. Still have 65 cartridges ready to go.
200 grain eld-x
71 grains of n570
210 federal primer
Hornady brass
2780~fps
In the meanwhile I've been playing around trying to figure out my next load as I have been told not to expect any n570 for quite some time.
A ladder with imr 4831 has suggested 70-71.5 is where to start. 3 rounds each, .5 grain increments for the load range.
Took 10 cartridges out with my chrono. 5x 70.5, 5x71.5. I didn't end up shooting the 71.5 because I was getting 2965~ fps with 70.5 and the book I am going from is saying 72.5 should be around 2850 fps.
Not seeing pressure signs, but if speed is above calculated pressure should be too...
Data is written with a 24" barrel, I'm shooting 26". Am I rightfully concerned, or should I just keep sending it?
This gun sees 10-30 rounds a year, my primary hunting rifle.
