IMR 7828 in .338LM?? Thoughts? Results?

Have this powder available for purchase to try in 338LM.

Wondering what the results have been for those of you using this powder with 300gr projectiles?

Currently tried H1000 and had mediocre results for accuracy.

My concern would be that is a bit fast for 300gr bullets, but maybe not, could be the combination my rifle will prefer.

BMG 50 works best in 338 LM

7828 burn rate is not far off from h1000 and should work with the 300gr. I use retumbo and rl25 with the 300gr currently but those powders are getting hard to come by these days.

That is why I took some 7828 , seems like it is slightly more available than the others.

I used to use 7828 in my Barrett and my timberwolf. Decent enough results with some 300gr berger OTM's. Ive since switched to N-560 and got slightly better results.

Never tried 7828, I've used H1000 & H4831SC. My rifle shoots 300gr best with H4831SC.

LOL...guess not.

Maybe with the price of components etc people are a little more reluctant to try all kinds of loads with the bigger calibers. Most go with a "known" or recommended load and tweak it from there??? Just a thought.

I realize that there is a difference in cartridges, but my 338 Lapua Imp. absolutely loved the stuff.... worth a try maybe ??

Not to hijack your thread but what powder gives the best load density while still being in the "safe zone"?

I did, but getting some was the issue.I had a pre-buy set up that fell through, did another for H1000 and had some very inconsistent results with the H1000 I did try , supply issues on that stuff also, so now I am going to try the 7828 because it was available.

Hopefully something works out.

I too had inconsistent results with H1000 and 7828 didn't seem slow enough.
I might have a couple surplus cans of US869 in the locker..

H-1000 works pretty steady with me with Hornady HPBT 250s and 300 SMK's.

Never tried any other powders yet, but I average MOA with a slight tendency towards better.

I ONLY use VV N570 in mine. But its too expensive so im looking for alternatives. This is for my 30-338 with 230 Berger Hybrids.
