I had a chance to test some imr 7977 today in my 300 weatherby.

Was using weatherby brass, fed 215s and the barnes 175gr lrx bullet.

82.7gr
2958fps, 2956, 2955

83.4gr
2977, 2977, 2980

84.1gr
2998, 2997, 2999

84.8gr
3014, 3014, 3017

85.5gr
3036, 3037, 3034

86.2gr
3083, 3081, 3084

Going to load up a few more in .7gr increases and see where that goes.

Sure is consistent that's for sure.

Im interested in this thread!!!

keep me posted on results as my buddy has a 300Wby Mag and wants me to start reloading for him.

Can you post your load recipy

Did a quick continuation of my 7797 test this morning. First test was overcast and virgin brass. Round 2 today was sunny and 1F brass from round 1.

86.2
3109 3107 3108

86.9
3148 3144 3147

87.6
3165 3165 3163

86.2 shot just under 1", like in round 1. 86.9 shot .86" and 87.6 shot .77". Easy extraction and bolt lift. Primers of 87.6 look the same as 82.7 so they aren't telling me anything. 87.6 has slight crunch when seating the bullets. Ogive is 2.995".

I have been shooting it in my 7mm RM. I haven't got a real hot load but I went through an OCW and then played with seating depths. I am currently attempting a hotter load to see if I can get good accuracy with a little more velocity.

My rifle is a savage 111 LRH w/ the stock 24" barrel.

The load is as follows:
162 gr ELD-M
67.2 gr IMR 7977
250 CCI Primers
3.365 COAL, about .070 off the lands.

I am getting .5 MOA consistently, or at least when I am shooting ok. Have shot out to 1020 yds and hit consistently...velocity may be on the low side but I am at 2875 fps with that load.

I am hoping to run some more tests and have a batch loaded at 69.2, 69.5 & 69.8 gr. I shot right up to 69.2 on the original OCW test with no pressure signs. It also looked like I was getting into another noDE at the max. I am hoping to achieve 3000-3050 fps with the hotter load. Any pointers are welcome and if anyone else has some loads they could share with the ELD-M and IMR 7977 I would welcome the help.
